A few odds 'n ends, and a survey.... in A New Beginning

This morning as Joe and I set forth to walk Guinness before we went on our outing, I thought how proud I am of us for learning to be good dog owners....and how learning to be a good dog owner has also made us better people. I think we are just a little more thoughtful of others-in-general since we have learned to be thoughtful of this very nice, very GOOD dog Joey brought into our lives. I think that I love Joe a tiny bit more (well, it IS always possible!) because he is so good about taking Guinness for walks.
Some of the kids in our lunch line at school have helped make me a better person. I’m thinking specifically of one young man who used to annoy me soooo much because he is so picky. He never wants to take a tray we have sitting up there, even though we sit them there FOR the kids to take. He will say, “May I have a cheeseburger and French fries please?” when there are already two trays up there with cheeseburgers and fries on them. If we say, “There are two right there,” he says, “I don’t want those. People have been breathing on them.”
And when we have meatball or cheesesteak subs, he says, “I’d like a cheesesteak sub, please, and please make mine neat!” (It can be rather messy, ladling the cheese sauce onto these subs and trying to do it fast so the lunch line moves along!)
One day I said to him, “I NEVER make your sub messy on purpose, you know.”
But ya know, he never really acts undignified or rude; he says please and he’s not loud. He just wants a tidy sub. I started to be CAREFUL to not drip cheese all over the bun and the tray, when I made his. It was better than having him give me “that look”! Now, I actually make neat subs! Who knew I could be neat? Seems like, if I just actually TRIED a few times, it turned out to be easy!
New Topic! This evening I found out the reeeeeeeal reason Sister Sandy wanted to switch churches! (But because Carol simply wouldn’t, Sandy resigned herself and now seems to be ok with it.) The reeeeeeal reason is that the pastor is one of those who wants to go visit every person at their houses. Now I guess some people like this, but Sandy doesn’t want it, and I should think she is not the only person in the whole world who has no desire for the pastor of her church to come a-calling. Not everyone cares for company. Some of us (and Sandy and I are alike in this way) see plenty of people when we go OUT. When we are at home, we only want to see family and pets....the people we live with!
Anyhow, this guy has called several times, and she doesn’t answer the phone, because she feels uncomfortable saying something like, “Look, I see you at church; I don’t need or want you to visit me at my house.”
Personally, I think it’s rude of them to pester like that. People who want visits should be able to put their names on a list, and the pastors should not even ask the others. People should not have to explain why they prefer privacy.
I am on my fourth day of no-Aleve-for-two-weeks-before-surgery and so far, all goes well! Just like the man on one tv commercial says, though, it does seem like you’re forever taking pills if you deal with chronic pain and only take Tylenol. My doctor gave me a prescription for tramadol, but I plan on not using it unless the Tylenol fails. Because I’ve also got ice, heating pads, Joe’s massage (not the best, but it’ll do in a pinch!), and Icy Hot patches to use.

interesting survey,
I'm glad your sisters have come to an agreement about their church, but I do agree with Sandy, if I want you to come to my house I'll invite you, don't invite yourself, at least in that sort of situation,
you have such a great perspective Nicky, have a great day!!!
