Typical day for us today. Wake up, Starbucks, groceries, gas, home. We had a larger grocery trip than normal today because we needed a bunch of cleaning supplies and we stocked up on meat, but otherwise just usual stuff. I was given some very ripe bananas at work last night (totally random, I know) so I picked up some walnuts and buttermilk so I can make banana bread tomorrow morning. I haven’t had it in so long.
So, something that could be life-changing happened this morning in terms of our finances. As you guys know, we’re expected to be getting a raise and it’s been made clear that everyone’s raises are going to be different. They are based on a number of different factors but when Tim and I woke up this morning, we saw that there was an additional 40 dollars in each of our paychecks (we have direct deposit). I messaged my girlfriend at work and asked if our retroactive pay for the raise ( from April 1st) had been placed into this weeks check. She wasn’t positive, but was fairly certain that the retroactive amount was going to be given in a separate check next week. If that is the case, Tim and I both received SIGNIFICANT raises and are looking at an extra $320 a month in our accounts.
I’m trying REALLY hard not to get too excited about this, because I wont know until I see my pay stub when I get to work, but if that’s the case this is a game changer. We can put more money into savings. We’ll be able to afford to buy a new couch. I can pay off my student loans faster. We could possibly even look into getting a second car.
AND Tim got a confirmation yesterday they he is definitely going to be cross-trained as an aide at the hospital, which is another pay raise. I hate talking about money because I really hate how vital it is to living comfortably, but this is big news. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for our living situation and for Oliver’s future.
As you can see, trying not to get excited isn’t working well for me. We’ll see what happens when I look at my pay stub. In the meantime, I’m praying to all of the gods and keeping my fingers crossed. This could be really wonderful.
In other news, not a whole heck of a lot going on. I’ve got a busy weekend coming up full of friends and family. Saturday I have a birthday party for my girlfriend’s kids and Sunday I’ve got cake and ice cream at my MIL’s house and hopefully the airshow. I’m entering a free raffle at work today for VIP tickets which would be WICKED cool to win. I’m sure lots of people with young kids are going to enter, but hopefully Tim and I have a chance, too. I’ve got to fit laundry and cleaning the bathroom AND finishing cleaning out the nursery in there somewhere.... which I will because I’m in Type A personality mode and everything needs to be done right now. -_-;;
Okay, I’m off. Tim to shower and get ready for work and hopefully not be disappointed by my pay stub. Toodles!
