Friday and I haven’t written yet this week. It’s general election day here. It was the most boring campaign I can remember, but actually quite exciting on the day. It looked so like it was going to be a hung parliament with no party coming close to a majority. However, the conservatives managed to surprise everyone at the eleventh hour with a convincing win and undisputed Commons majority. Tories have 331 seats. I voted Tory, or more accurately, as always, I voted against labour.
Several big names lost their seats including George Galloway (I have some grudging respect for him), Danny Alexander (toad), Ed Balls (Bell End), and Vince Cable (Possibly insane). Nick Clegg, Ed Milliband, and Nigel Farage have all resigned as leaders of their parties. But the best moment for me was Anne Snelgrove not only failing to regain her South Swindon seat, but getting booed while trying to make her speech. Sorry, but she’s a cow, she supported the Iraq war, and she voted against an EU referendum. She deserves everything she gets.
I received an email from my mother this morning saying simply “Great news, Balls out!”, thanks mother. I suspect she may have been up all night shouting at the television.
The boy has done super well at school this week. He won a spelling prize, and a prize for cricket. I bought him a DVD because I was proud of the little man.
I came across this Emo Philips joke this week. I think it’s pretty funny, but more than that, I think it’s a clever way of making a point. What do you think?
The above written Friday, now Saturday, just back from Nudie Night.
