Well, doesn’t time fly! I just checked the date of the last “proper” entry I did and it was beginning of April!!
Hmmm, what’s happened since then……
Had strong winds during April and ended up losing a fence next to the drive. All the posts were rotten ( they had been up 20 years!) so the wind just took it down. Luckily the panels weren’t damaged so we only had to repair the posts. We got an “odd-job man” in to do them and he’s put in concrete posts and secured the wooden posts to them, so they are a hell of a lot stronger.
We’ve also bought a new shed as the one we had was starting to fall apart. He’s going to be putting that up next week. Why aren’t I doing any of this? Three reasons. My arthritis is getting worse and flare-ups are more common now, usually in my knees and wrists, my DIY skills are not that brilliant and I prefer to leave it to the professionals, and finally I have been doing so many miles this month that it’s ridiculous. Almost 2,500 miles in April, which probably isn’t a lot for my cousins across the various ponds, but for l’il ol’ UK is some going!
We got another bike to do up. The original one I bought, the James, has turned out to be a right pig-in-a-poke. No way are we going to be able to renovate it as we can’t get hold of the parts we need. It was a lot worse than we first thought. So we bought a Kawasaki KH125, a 2-stroke single. This WAS in pretty good nick and needs only minor rejuvenation. I’ve got all the parts I need except a front mudguard, which we are hoping to find at a big auto jumble in a couple of weeks time. Lee has been doing the cleaning and polishing and I am doing the mechanical fettling. At least I remember how to do that side of things! LOL
Had to take MY bike for its first MOT yesterday (Saturday). These have to be done on vehicles over 3 years old, and mine was 3 yrs old on April 30th. But as she only had 1500 miles on the clock I didn’t expect any problems, and there weren’t. She passed with flying colours. Guy at the garage says “Don’t use it much do you!” I says “ I bought it last November and 500 of those miles are mine!” That changed his opinion. He was also a biker with a Triumph Bonneville!
Tomorrow (Monday) I’m off on a trip to an old airfield about 50 miles away. They’re having a WWII event with old bikes and cars, etc. They’ve also got a local model club flying some of their planes, as well as a real life Lancaster doing Taxi-runs along the airfield. At present the aircraft is not allowed to fly due to restrictions, but there is a group of guys working on it to make it airworthy and pass all the inspections to get a flying permit again. I’ve been to this event for a couple of years now and its always well attended with loads of great exhibits and a real good day. Just hope the weather holds! Forecast says it should be OK.
Then it will be back to work….yeuk! LOL I do love my job so it’s not too bad, but I do think work gets in the way of having a life sometimes! Still it will be a short month for me as I am on leave for 10 days from 22nd. We’ll be going down to our caravan in Cornwall again, of course. Vicki, our second “child” will be 30 on the 31st! Oh how I feel old! We’re all going, daughter/SiL, 3 grandsprogs and us, all in one caravan! Gonna be cosy!!! It is a 6 berth with 2 bedrooms, but there will be 7 of us LOL. Paula and Andy will have to have one of the kids in with them!
Well, I guess I’ll sign off for now. Better get looking for some more surveys! ROFLMAO.
