Don’t know if you guys know what a blue gill is or a red ear perch or a warmouth bass. But we caught them Friday. Had a blast. Using crickets and worms and shiners. Caught over a 100 in 4 hours. I kept only enough for supper. Fried dem fishies up for my bride and we ate everyone of them. Had some hush puppies and tator wedges with cole slaw and it was delishish. We went down south in the marsh in the canals to catch them and we really was catching just about every cast. Back in the 40’s they dug canals to transport oil filed stuff into the marsh’s. this created a fish haven today. Canals or deep and full of fresh water. This being a Federal Reserve helps to cause they really do everything up so nice in the reserves. But the fish grow big. It is stocked with Fla. bass on 66,000 acres of marsh. it is a sanctuary for geese and ducks in the winter time. only about 30 minutes from my house. Been fishing there since I was about 10 years old. So I know the place pretty good. C/S/C my jigs or catching a few. But the crickets did best on the perch. I am ready to go back soon.
On a higher note. Church was good yesterday and Sunday school too. Had a great time in Choir. Singing a real bluesy gospel song for the special. It’s called “Order my Steps”. Saturday it rained so I watched LSU whip Texas A&M pretty good. Tied a few jigs, rested some. Sunday afternoon to a couple baseball games to watch my 13 year old grand son play. He played catcher. He is really very good back there. He is in a Minnie hitting slump though. Only got on base twice in two games. Love me some baseball. that’s my game. Used to umpire. Over 17 years umpiring. Dem days or gone. Done got to fat for dat. LOL But I like to watch. So, yall have a good week and my prayer is that god will use you and bless you. Father, have your way with your people. Amen!
