One Hundred Years Later... in From this day forward

Seems like a hundred years since I’ve written anything, except of course Face Book here and there. There have been pleasant things and not so pleasant things going on since. My memory seems to not go any further back than October of last year. I’ll pick up from there.

I went for an annual check up. At my age one never knows what will manifest, but I was a bit blindsided when I came in for the results and the Dr. said I was in kidney failure. Nothing was wrong last year or the years before. I looked at him with a stupid “who me”? look, I’m sure. He said it so matter of fact that I thought I heard wrong. He said tests showed a 13% function. Fast forward to visit with Kidney specialist, weeks later. Fast forward to ultra sound and 24 hr. “collection” and bring it in. The ultra sound was nothing, but the collection was a nuisance. Anyway, weeks later and a lot of angst the results showed not 13%, but 27% function. Well, better. Also no blockages. So that’s where I am with that. I saw myself being hooked up to a machine a few times a week. I know it could be worse.

With that out of the way.
My daughter gave birth to a baby boy the end of October. I can safely say he looks exactly like his daddy, but that’s where the similarity ends. He’s a sweet, happy little guy. That makes number nine grandchild for me.

Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went without much fur flying. OK, maybe a little, but nothing worth mentioning.
During that time birthdays came and went, without any fur flying at all.

I went to a piano recital that two 6yr old grand kids were participating in. Very cute.
Someone sitting near me got rid of their illness by giving it to me. Four rounds of antibiotics and almost two months later, I was better. Before the last round I was diagnosed with pneumonia. X-ray showed otherwise, but by the time the Dr.’s office gave me the results I had two days left of the antibiotic.
While I need to be proactive when I come down a sinus thing, recovering from antibiotics seems to be harder as I get older. But four rounds? Come on!!

It was a cold 2014-15 winter. I won’t complain. It was nothing compared to the North-East. But then the NE doesn’t get the humidity and blistering heat that is Hot-lanta (and SE) in the summer. A little whine with that cheese?

I broke my cherry here on PB.
Later~

nice to see you writing. it took 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear up my bronchitis last winter. seems like it's getting harder for me to get well or the antibiotics aren't working as good as they used to. it was a brutal winter up here. i'm glad it's over and in the past. i grew up in florida. i know heat and humidity for 11.5 months of the year. take care,

Glad the new baby was healthy and all the birthdays with no fur flying. It is good to see you here.

I remember you from OD. I lived just south of Atlanta back in 1973-74. I remember that heat & humidity very well. Now, my humid months are May thru Sept. UGH!

Hi Ragdolls. The heat and humidity seems to have a way of remaining in ones memory. What's going on with you these days?

Glad to see an entry from you!! Yikes about the kidney failure, though. I hope it can be reversed - have they let you know what can be done about it? I know with cats you can feed them special food... probably would be a little more difficult with humans, though!
And sorry about the other health issues. Darned germy people.

edna, for the dr. to call it kidney failure made it sound really bad. It's kidney function that is down. My dil mother and father both were diagnosed with something similar, but their dr. kind of blew it off when they asked what they needed to do about it. Nothing really, just drink a lot of water was his answer. My specialist took me any vitamins that were not water soluble. My oncologist had me on very large doses of vitamin d for my bones. That could be the culprit, but I won't know for sure until I go back in for a blood test to see if function has improved. Maybe I need to go on cat food?
