My Grandfathers enlistment record and another bit of information.
GRXXX James : Service Number - 30XX : Place of Birth - Brisbane QLD : Place of Enlistment - Maryborough QLD : Next of Kin - (Brother) GROUNDS Sydney.
Enlisted: 6th February 1917.
2nd Lighthorse re-inforcement
Taken into care at 2 years of age by a cruel state, fostered til 16, enlisted 18, AWOL on way to Palestine, Arrived 1917 late, Fought Ottomans, Helped liberate parts of Palestine, Sick with Malaria and everything else. Safe home Discharged.
Spent most next 60 years in out of Psych Hospitals.
Never met you but I’ll salute you as the sun rises at Redcliffe on Saturday morning.!
