If you want love, you’ve got to give a little
(If you want love)
If you want faith, you just believe a little
(If you want love)
If you want peace, turn your cheek a little
The problem with not writing on a regular basis is when you finally get around to writing you have so many things to say that you don’t know where to start.
The plans for the road trip to Vegas are firming up. My buddy will come up and pick me up at the airport where I will store my car in the long-term parking and then we will be off. Everything will be very fluid throughout the trip. We will be driving a diesel Penske truck. I haven’t driven large trucks often in this lifetime. So I will have to figure it out. But I haven’t found a machine I couldn’t handle.
We will drive four days to get from New Hampshire to Nevada. Then I will have one day down, and then fly back on a redeye with a four hour layover at JFK. To arrive back in Portland and pick up my car midday.
I’ve been putting my resume out. No bites yet but that’s not unexpected. When I get back from Vegas I’ll take a few weeks to enjoy the weather, and then have to get serious about finding a job or coming up with some kind of plan. Still tossing around the idea of getting a paralegal certificate. There are a lot of job listings for paralegals. And they make decent money. I don’t really need that much, actually would prefer to work part-time. The drawback to full-time employment is you have money, but you have no time to do anything. I’d rather make a little money and still have time to enjoy things.
I finally petitioned to graduate. I’ll have my MBA on 1 June assuming I get through the board.
I had an advisor from the college arguing with me about when I petitioned. I know very well when I petitioned. It was at nine o’clock yesterday. In the morning. She kept telling me that can’t be because you are on a list from last Friday. I just told her I don’t know what to tell you because I know when I petitioned I logged into the school website, petitioned the graduate, and left the house to do my chores. Got my tires rotated, went to Lowe’s and bought a re-placement flag for the one that was destroyed during the blizzard, got a refill on a propane bottle, got gas, got a haircut, and came home. I know the exact timeline so don’t tell me that I applied last Friday because I did not.
The buddy I am helping move came up last Wednesday. We hung out and watched movies. On Friday we went up to the transportation Museum in Owls Head. That was a nice little road trip. A lot of interesting things up at that museum. His uncle has a Fokker tri-plane he donated to the museum. Almost a century old. Hard to believe we have only been flying heavier than air for 100 years.
On the way back we stopped at the sea basket, a “local” seafood restaurant. I am a big guy, but I couldn’t put a dent in the fried clams basket I ordered for lunch. When did portions get so god damn big?
We zorched through all three of the Hunger Games movies. Then watched Prisoners. He left midday Sunday, and then I went up to Salem’s Lot and had Easter dinner with my parents and my uncle.
I was home by six, where I proceeded to start watching Sons of Anarchy. It is holding my attention so far.
Quite by accident I started watching iZombie. It is a cute show. I didn’t think I was going to like it. I’m so tired of Hollywood thinking they can stick and “i” in front of anything and make it relevant.
Once my tax refund shows up in my bank account I’m planning on buying a tablet for the road trip. Currently thinking about a kindle fire. My daughter has an iPad – and they don’t give those away. A Kindle Fire might be a little more affordable, but I don’t know whether I would be able to put my iTunes library on one. Any ideas?
