We had an OB appointment this morning. Ginny was so attentive and wanted to know every detail about how I’ve been feeling, eating, and sleeping. My vitals look good and my weight is still constant. She showed me where the top of my uterus is right now and I can’t believe how high up it is!
She gave me some tips on how to handle my heartburn and I told her that my anxiety/stress levels have dropped dramatically since entering the second trimester. I’m really feeling so much better.
Once she made sure that everything was good with me, she pulled out the Doppler. Tim and I get nervous whenever we see the thing because we’ve NEVER heard the heartbeat with it. And, as seems to be typical of this little peanut, it wasn’t easy this time around either. The little stinker is a kicker, though! We heard every punch and kick and wiggle that Little made, and after a few minutes she was FINALLY able to locate the heartbeat for about 10 seconds before Little wiggled away again.
It was SO reassuring to hear the HB today. It’s hard having a month in between appointments, but it’s starting to get easier. I really feel now that I can actually start to enjoy my pregnancy. I’m feeling great, the baby looks good, and I’m so excited that I’m going to be a mommy.
We also got the report back from Baystate regarding the Trisomy 13 and downs test. Apparently my risk of downs is 1 in 27,000. And just as low for Trisomy. I’m not going to bother with any more tests. I’m going to love my baby however he/she comes out, and the tests are just too stressful and unnecessary.
The most exciting thing today? We scheduled our anatomy scan! At the end of April we’ll know whether our Little is a boy or a girl! We also scheduled another appointment with the midwives 2 days after the ultrasound appointment so that we can discuss the results. I just can’t believe that in less than 30 days I’ll be able to name our baby. To whisper to my sweet little boy or girl and start decorating. Start planning. I’m getting all emotional just thinking about it. I’m a mess, haha.
I’m gonna lay down for a nap in a little while. I’ve got work all this week and then it’s Easter weekend. One day at a time!
:] 178 days until baby is due. <3 <3 <3
