New Book: Diet Journal - 1st entry in Diet Journal

I’ve been doing a new “diet”.... in the morning i don’t have anything but maybe coffee. Between noon and 2pm i will eat something satisfying. it can be anything really. That i don’t count calories or anything. This is my main meal. throughout the day i’ll have coffee and if i get hungry i drink cups of water. if i have anything later It’s not after 8pm. i have eaten stuff overnight when i take mom to the bathroom. i know i shouldn’t but i have. It’s something that i have to stop. i will eventually, just tapering down to it. not cold turkey i couldn’t do that. But i was doing ok, except last night i had a tuna fish sandwich on english muffin. Anyway, i do notice myself a few lbs lighter when i look at myself sideways in the mirror.

i have low-fat snacks that are satisfying. Goldfish crackers, low-fat gluten free cape cod kettle chips, and small cheddar rice cakes. i haven’t eaten them all day throughout the month. they’re there if I’m a lil hungry. And they are out of sight! i have them in my room now that i’m mostly in the front part of our house (livingroom & kitchen).

The low carb diet i was on last yr was working. in fact i switched from regular sugar to a sugar substitute like Equal last summer. THAT’S a big difference right there. But i can never cut out sugar completely. Like for a treat i like to have hot chocolate. i have started to drink sugar free chocolate syrup. At 1st it tasted disgusting, but then i warmed up to it. its not bad. Tastes like bitter dark chocolate, and i do like that too. there were times i did put in a packet of equal just to boost up the flavor!

i was depressed late last yr and just didn’t care what i ate. so i got off the atkins diet.

i tried doing atkins fully but then i realized i just couldnt stop eating foods loaded with carbs. What i did is tailor it to me. Cutting carbs mostly, but not completely. so once a day i would eat something that is loaded with carbs, like fries.. etc. It did work, just not as fast as completely sticking with atkins.

The thing is i want to lose some weight, but i don’t want to feel deprived. Atkin low-carb diet is satisfying! But i do love carbs too, like potatoes(french fries etc.) and theres really no substitute for that at all. I just have a smaller portion. But when you 1st go on atkins, for the first 2 weeks you can only have 20 - 25g of carbs a day. Thats very hard. Especially when you see a slice of bread alone is 11g of carbs. so you have to get creative. Instead of a reg sandwich with bread, i did use lettuce instead of bread. lettuce wraps are good, considering i dont eat much veggies. i had tuna fish that way too. Lately i just put tuna fish on unsalted saltine crackers. That does satisfy me too.

The cups of water i have in the middle of the afternoon does stop my hunger. And i notice i like to eat when i watch tv. So instead i will watch but keep my hands busy online on my tablet or my phone. If its something on tv i can’t pull myself away from and i wanna eat something, i’ll have one of my low fat snacks, or something like broth, or tuna on crackers.

i know i have to stop the lil bit of overnight eating i’ve been doing lately. That’ll help a ton. But even so, these last few days i’ve been doing good.

It’s almost 1pm and i didn’t eat a meal yet. i have had some cheddar rice cakes while i was in here and a few goldfish crackers. With coffee of course :)

i’m gonna stop now and make some more coffee. i’ll write soon
