Flashman and the Mountain of Light (399 pages; including three appendices, glossary and notes) by George McDonald Fraser is volume nine in the Flashman series. Set in the mid 1800s, Flashman finds himself in India. In service to a dangerous but beautiful maharani, whilst the British find themselves under threat from the Sikh Khalsa. An interesting read, as always, about an unlikeable hero.

I had a bit of a “can’t be bothered reading” session for a little while, before I picked up my next book.

Slaughterhouse 5 (177 pages) by Kurt Vonnegut is about Billy Pilgrim, an unassuming man caught up in three places: the fire-bombing in Dresden, Germany during the Second World War; an alien planet, and the US. An interesting and memorable read on war, and the human place within it.

Books Read: 5/52
