Tessie in Another Open Diary refugee

We had to take Tessica to the vet yesterday - she was circling the litterbox and not really peing so I thought she might be getting another UTI. So we put her in a carrier and took her over… the vet doesn’t think she has an infection but she has an antibiotic anyway, and she has lots of crystals in her bladder… so now we have to switch her onto special food and try to get her to eat it, which isn’t going to be easy! So now we have three foods to juggle - Zho-Zho has her special digestive food (which she adores and they all think is kitty junkfood), Scouty and Silver have regular Purina One (which they seem to be getting tired of) and Tessie has Purina One with a tiny sprinkle of the special kibble mixed in (and thus far she’s eating around it.) I have to take up the two ‘ordinary’ bowls after the girls have finished eating and just leave Tessie’s dish on the shelf. (Zho-Zho eats practically every scrap of hers when we put it down, and what she doesn’t eat the other two line up for.) Scouty and Silver will jump up on top of the dresser and eat from Tessie’s bowl if they get hungry enough but the vet said it wouldn’t hurt them… they’re older kitties too. But we don’t want to have to spend a hundred bucks a pop on feeding them all. My hope is that if Tessie’s food is the only stuff available most of the day, she’ll HAVE to start eating it!

Ziggy has that same thing. He was in the hospital for four nights the second time. He had crystals and was circling the litter box. He is on medication that he has to take twice a day now probably for the rest of his life and we have to give him prescription cat food or the problems will come right back. But, we had to switch all of my kitties over to it because juggling just his was impossible. The larger bags of this food are $78.00 each. Sucks, but that's part of responsible pet ownership. He's been so much better since we have him on this.

Seems like you're on top of the situation for these kitties!
