Almond Butter in Pregnancy

I woke up at 5am feeling absolutely gross. I juggled the idea of going to the bathroom and waiting to see if anything came up, but I was so exhausted that I just tossed and turned until I fell back asleep. Woke up 4 hours later feeling a little bit better, bit still yucky.

I got out of bed, had some water, and sat in front of the computer to pay some bills. We are officially out of credit card debt! It’s really refreshing to look at our list of bills for each month and know that they’re all essential bills; Rent, electric, groceries, phone bill, etc. The only debt I’ve got not is my college loans, which I pay on time every month, and will hopefully have paid off in the next 5 years. Our car will hopefully be paid off in the next 3.

Now that the credit cards are out of the way, the next step is going to be our savings account. I’ve only got enough time at the hospital to pay for about a month and a half of maternity leave. So we’ve got to save up as much as we can to cover the deficit for the other month and a half.

I didn’t apply for short-term disability before I got pregnant. I really should have made the time, and I’m kicking myself now for not doing it, but we’ll manage. We’ve just got to be very frugal for the next 9 months and save every penny we can. Once the baby comes I am going to put my student loans on deferment and pass a payment on my car payment for the first month. That will give us roughly an extra 400 bucks for that first month and an additional 200 a month after that for a year with the deferment. I know that no one is ever financially ready (or ready period) for a baby, but we’re going to try as hard as we can.

We’re fortunate, too, that we wont have to worry about childcare. With me getting this new job, there will only be 3 days during the week that we will need someone to watch the baby once I go back to work, and Tim and I both have a parent that doesn’t work who would be more than happy to babysit. Plus my grandparents are retired and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind a night or two with the little one. :]

I’ve never been good with money. I like to spend and I like to buy things. My mother instilled in me from a very young age that materials equal happiness, and so I get an unhealthy thrill by spending money. Even grocery shopping gets a rise out of me. It’s really not healthy.

Thankfully, I have Tim to keep me honest. I am going to give him my credit cards and every week when we get paid 100 dollars is going right into savings and it is not getting touched until this baby comes.

That’s all I’ve really got to say for now. I’m excited for this coming weekend. Tim and I get to babysit our god son for a few hours on Saturday evening and Sunday the girls are all coming over for a night of ritual. :] It’s going to be a busy weekend (as usual) but I’m looking forward to it. :)

Oh! The title of this entry! I’ve found that the only food I can stomach first thing in the morning is granny smith apples with organic almond butter. Tim cooks bacon and eggs every morning and I just… I just cant.

Okay, that’s all!
Toodles!
