OK … so NOW it’s been 5 days? WTH. I still want to do a Joaquin entry, but I may now just wait to do a detailed one for his 2.5 year birthaversary, much like the ones I did for 1.5 and 2 years.

ANYWAY. On Thursday I had a great call with a potential new client and started putting together a proposal for a very interesting project.

My timehop app informed me that a year ago that day Joaquin was 17 months old, and 2 years ago he was 5 months ago, and some adorable pics popped up on the app so I bribed him into doing a photo shoot so I could create this:

This weirdo.

Later that day, I met a friend’s cousin for coffee. She’s planning to move to LA or San Diego in the next few months and wanted to chat and connect. It was nice - she’s a graphic designer and we might actually be able to hire her for some freelance projects.

Friday was a gym day and I ran 3+ miles and walked a few and felt generally good about the workout. I ran a few errands with Aaron after we dropped Joaquin off at school, and when we got home there were packages from both Stitch Fix & Plated.com, and lo, it was glorious. I LOVE my new fix and, once again, I’m keeping all of it.

I decided to make Miso Rice Bowl with Roasted Redfish and Fried Parsley and it was pretty yum. Thanks again, plated.com.

Here’s the sunset from that night:

We ended the night with a dance party in the bathroom after Joaquin’s bath. Pandora was live streaming Jack White live from Madison Square Garden and it was pretty effing awesome. Joaq loves Jack White, so we rocked it out.

Saturday started out with the usual gym routine followed by a ride on the mall train and some quality time in the play area.

We dropped Joaquin off at his grandma’s house around 3:30p that afternoon and headed home to get ready for an interesting evening. A bunch of Aaron’s friends came over around 7p to watch the UFC fights that Aaron ordered on DirecTV. Some of them I had met before, but some of them I hadn’t. A little later, Aaron’s sister and her boyfriend arrived and we got ready to head out for the actual main event of the night, which was this It awesome. Terrifying, but really, really cool as well. It didn’t start until midnight, so we didn’t end up getting home until 2am. WTH. This momma is way too old for that stuff! Ha.

Luckily, Joaquin stayed at his GIgi’s house, so we were gloriously able to sleep in. Sunday was a quick trip to the gym, then rushing home. We invited three couples over to watch the game (Aliya, Zach, Tony, Alex, Jason & Amanda) and it was pretty mellow and nice. AND DELICIOUS. Everyone brought something to share and we ordered gluten-free pizza and Aaron grilled buffalo chicken tenders. Joaquin was super clingy, so I spent most of my time hanging with him.

Tony decided to bring an interesting gift for Joaquin - two baby turtles! Joaquin was thrilled but Aaron and I are.... less than thrilled. Tony is so well-intentioned..but pets are kind of a big responsibly… uh..

Here he is checking them out with Aliya and Zach.

After the game, Aliya and Zach stayed for a bit and Aaron and Zach ran to Donut Friend to get some amazing delicious donuts. It was heaven.

We are starting to nudge Joaquin to be more consistent about potty training, so today I showed him some new underwear and his excitement was palpable. Here’s to hoping we get this going sooner vs. later.

The rest of today was A LOT of phone meetings and work during the day, and Aaron learned that he had two auditions to prep for so we basically did that most of the evening.

And now it’s real late (for us), so off to bed we go.

Ha! Awesome :)

He is such a cutie-pie! The Mister and I had the potty training discussion last night. Rett has gone potty a few times (after asking) but it is time to get serious. I'm dreading it. This parenting business is hard!

Joaquin does really well at preschool, but he's super inconsistent at home. Trying NOT to bribe him with toys or treats anymore, but the self-satisfaction route doesn't seem to be motivating for him. BUT, UNDERWEAR! IS EXCITING!!

We ended up getting a couple of books about going potty and we checked out a potty movie from the library. He loved it! He also likes to take books into the bathroom, sit on the potty and read them. I know bribery isn't the best, but since Rett looooves stickers, we are going to make a little sticker chart and every time he goes potty he gets to put a sticker on the chart.

The book he really likes is called Once Upon a Potty (boy's version). There is a video you can get, too.
