weekend has been somewhat eventful…both good and bad.

friday i drove into work because some coworkers and i were going to this place in east la where you cook your own steak. we got over there and one of our female coworkers went as well.

we cooked our steaks and there were quite the number of sexual innuendos and jokes as we hung out. both of the guy coworkers are karaoke folk, one moreso than the other. but l and i hung out (she’s the female of the group) as the other two were singing.

it’s interesting because she’s a little older than i am. i’d guess late 40s, married, with 3 kids. it’s funny because i think that if she wasn’t married, we’d have done it by now. she’s fun to hang out with and able to separate work and fun. when we go back to the office, we’re back to being professionals.

met a girl there, e. my friend/coworker was chatting up her friend and by this time l had gone home. the other two of us were talking to e, but i was more involved and so eventually our other coworker when home. ended up being the four of us. my coworker who is about the same age as i am, e, her friend, and i.

got talked into singing “my song” which apparently is baby got back. each time i “sing” it, i tend to get about 3 more words right. i am horrible at speaking fast and tend to mumble a lot. but anyway, eventually it was my turn, and during the song, e and some other random chick starting grinding their butts into me. so that was fun. it’s very tough to pay attention to “singing” when this is going on so that made it interesting. but then we kept chatting and there was some dancing going on.

saturday morning i had to take my car into the shop. it was leaking what appeared to be oil. according to the dealership, it was because, at the last oil change they did, the didn’t clean around the oil filter well enough. so hopefully that is fixed.

after that i went to my friend’s kid’s first birthday. it was at a park and it turned out to be a perfect day to have an outside party. i was worried it would be too windy since that’s been the norm this weekend. however, there really wasn’t any there. it was a fun time and good to see my friends again. my friend and his wife (the kid’s parents) were friends from college. but it was a little funny because i felt like the token nonwhite person there. also, all of the families there come from money. all of a sudden i was underdressed in a tshirt, jeans, and sneakers. for example, my friend’s cousin and her husband live in beverly hills.

i was planning on going home and sulking regarding the information from the previous entry. i actually contemplated not going to the party at all. but then i read on fb that my friend’s were still at their yard sale. so i headed over there for a few hours. takes one’s mind off things.

this morning my friend leti and i went on a hike to griffith park. the area we normally go to was blocked off for some type of race, so we had to take an alternate route. i think we ended up doing about 4 miles, so that was good. plus, the weather was good again and the wind had died down. as we were leaving there were a lot of fire engines and a helicopter going into the park. i hope whoever they had to get to is doing ok. it’s a scary idea to have something happen out in the wild. sometimes it is good that it is getting busier.

after that we headed to costco. got some healthy food, including salad and some jimmy dean delights. which are basically “healthier’ versions of mcdonald’s mcmuffins. i’ll probably have one for dinner tonight to try them out.

now here i am having a beer and watching a movie about alan turing on netflix. i am curious to see the new moving about alan turing, but haven’t.
