I had a great weekend. What a pity that it is over, but what a blessing and privilege it is to have three day weekends.
On Friday evening I had dinner with Jasmine at Diepnoord which was fun. I was still a bit tired but it was okay. Saturday I deepcleaned the shower suddenly, I felt a spark to do it and immediately made use of it. Also vacuumed the halls a bit and the kitchen and I cleaned parts of the rest of the bathroom. On Sunday Kevin and I went to the new Turkish restaurant around the corner here. Their mezes were amazing but the Iskender wasn't great, but the people were so lovely so we tipped generously. Yesterday I also went running, and today as well. Today I went running in the park next to the children's farm. Then I did groceries and made a pasta salad for Kevin and me to enjoy in the park.
When we wanted to go to the park Kevin discovered that his bike was stolen. So sad. We ended up going by car, which was a bit more of a hassle than expected, but we enjoyed our time in the park so much, we even fell asleep a bit.
The salad consisted of tomatoes, cucumber, green olives, white butter beans, gran padano cheese flakes, red chilli pepper, and an apple. The dressing had greek yogurt, olive oil, white wine vinigar, dijon mustard, garlic cloves and lemon juice. And salt of course. It was delicious!
After the park we went for our daily walk. It was lovely!
In the evening I started watching a Korean slice of life movie, Little Forest. It seems to be starting well. A bit cliche in a way but nowhere near those Japanese cliche films I've watched.
I've been thinking a lot about the Vipassana retreat I'll be attending in September. It's as intimidating as it is exciting. I want to buy a little meditation stool, like those wooden ones that you fold your feet under. Also I've been contemplating equanimity. During my run in the farm park I kept thinking: calm equanimity. And it made me feel rest and calm. That was super nice! I even got a sense of stillness and silence again from the trees and grass and such. I really love that.
In the afternoon I also sat on the floor again after such a long time. Gotta prepare my back... It was interesting to sit on the floor again for the first time since, what, 15 September 2025?
Now the weekend is over, but I used it perfectly. The only thing that I vaguely regret is not visiting my parents, but I can do that next weekend.
I'm just so grateful for today and for the past days of this weekend. Now it's time to go back to work... Which is okay....
Time to sleep. It's 0:27 already and I have to get up at, well actually, 7:50.
