This is blissful ignorance. I recommend it. in Book Two

I get bored of cinematic videos from Taiwan. I’m sure a few years ago I would have liked that one, but a couple of foreigners living out of a van in Taiwan just bores me. Two great elements from 2018: van life and Taiwan. Now, a big yawn.

Been there.
Done that.

So where is the learning here?
We are looking for something new. Simple as that.

So it is a pretty sweet life here. After the hike yesterday, we sat on the patio, read our books, and surfed around a bit. The missus went across the street and bought some wine. It rained and was sunny on and off, both at the same time. Then the sun dropped between the clouds and the mountains, and we went in and put the blinds down. The sky would still be light for an hour. I’m going to miss this place and this life. It is so simple and easy living in a condo by a lake in a valley surrounded by mountains.

And I slept in this morning. 7:30. Then I lay in bed and checked my podcast feed. Again, nothing appealed to me. I have not listened to or watched the news for a couple of months. I scan the NYT in the morning, but I never read anything about American politics, Trump, or anything about America itself—the reflecting pool in Washington, the 250-year anniversary… none of that interests me in the least.

With other stories, I read the headlines and sometimes the first 2 or 3 paragraphs, but I don’t need to read the whole story to know what it’s about. It’s about conflict, ideas, ignorance, and politics; and sometimes human interest—a lost giraffe is found in Texas. A comedian tells about her terrible childhood (I only read 3 paragraphs of that one.)

So instead, this morning, of listening to a news podcast, I put on my audiobook and listened to that for a while before getting up and making coffee and doing this. This is blissful ignorance. I recommend it.
