Forced To Go "Ultimate" in Bring Some Dominoes

Being that I've been a gamer for many, many years, I know how the gaming community is.  I know our tendencies.  I know how we gamers think, how we act, and even, how we can rebel against the very industry that we know and love.

The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is definitely going to be the talk of the gaming world, not only until the day this game launches, but even beyond, and once the game is "in the wild", people are still going to talk about it.

As it stands, there's a lot of negative right now surrounding the game.

I want to thank those PB'ers who commented on my entry titled, "A Little Bit Of Everything (https://www.prosebox.net/entry/2442665/a-little-bit-of-everything/?nav=author)".  This entry right here is, in some way, a response to the comments I received on that particular entry.

As I mentioned in my entry, I pre-ordered the PS5 version of the game from Best Buy on 06/25/26, the same day that the game's pre-orders went live.  $79.99 plus tax, good for a grand total of $86.99.  Truth be told, I pre-ordered the game before I knew that there would not be a physical disc inside of that clear blue game box.  Maybe I jumped the gun there just a bit, but I was of the mentality of the time that I just wanted to secure my copy of the game.  Now, even if I had known that there was never going to be a physical disc in that game box, there's a good chance that I still would have pre-ordered the game anyway.  The beauty of doing the pre-order at Best Buy is that if I decide that i don't want the game, I can just opt not to pick it up and Best Buy will refund my money.  Problem solved.  I save $87.

I had also heard the grumbling that buying the standard $80 version of the game will not allow complete access to the game.  Apparently, in order to play the full game and experience everything that the game has to offer, one must buy the Ultimate Edition of the game, which I understand runs $100.  With that $80 version that I was so quick to pre-order, I will be unable to access certain shops, stores, and probably experiences that the full Ultimate Edition will feature.  I'm in a weird spot now.  What do I do from here"

Do I:

--Forget that standard version of the game that I've already pre-ordered and not pick it up from Best Buy the day of release?

--Go back and pre-order the Ultimate Edition from Best Buy or from another retailer?

NOTE: So, I just researched this and from what I'm seeing online, it is not yet possible to pre-order the Ultimate Edition from any retailer.

--Buy the Ultimate Edition through the PlayStation Network?

--Just say "Fuck it" and just not buy the game?  That'll teach the folks at Rockstar Games.

As of this writing, I haven't decided what I'm going to do.  If I know myself, I will probably pony up the money and just get the Ultimate Edition of the game, through whatever means that will occur.

I, like most of my fellow gamers, would prefer a physical copy of the game.  I tend to favor physical media over anything digital, so that's just the way that I'm going to lean every time.

I still need to finish Grand Theft Auto V.  Now that game, I do own a physical copy of.  Rockstar didn't fuck up that release.

Why they want to screw up the release of GTA VI is beyond me.
