Mom had a birthday today. She would've turned 75.
She wasn't the type to celebrate her birthday, but I still regard the day as a form of holiday. Had I not been so busy at work, I might have taken the day off. As it stood, I worked and treated the day like any other work day. I tried to stay productive and for the most part, I think I was.
The song below would be my introduction to The Eagles. This was Mom's favorite song by The Eagles. As it turns out, it also happens to be my favorite.
I drove home from work today listening to this song.
In turn and several years later, I would introduce Mom to this cover of "I Can't Tell You Why". I don't know how I ever came across this version. Maybe it was during one of my many travels on the YouTube landscape? She had listened to it and said that it was decent. Her reactions to things, whether petty or significant, always tended to be quiet and subdued. I'm going to assume that she liked the song, even a little bit.
Mom might be gone, but the music, much like her memory, lives on.
Tomorrow will be another day.
