Yesterday I received an email from out of the blue from a funeral home about a few positions that they had open. Later in the day I talked to the woman as the first stage of the “interview” process and it went well enough, I think.
If I did well I should be hearing back sometime soon about the opportunity to do a second interview at the funeral home itself.
I really hope that something comes out of this because I would finally be able to get my foot in the door in the funeral industry, which will better my odds of getting accepted into the mortuary sciences program when I eventually apply. Plus, I would finally be able to get my own car and no longer have to share a vehicle with my mother.
The only potential “downside” of getting this job is that I would have to leave my current job as a janitor. While the pay and the hours are shit, it is the easiest job I’ve ever had and I do enjoy my co-workers. I always feel gutted leaving coworkers behind because I know I’ll never see them again but, when an opportunity presents itself, sometimes you just have to take it.
