christmas was relatively peaceful.
after i finally got in my dad’s house, i slept.
the next morning, christmas eve, was just hanging out at the house. we did go to his girlfriend’s house and we had dinner there. dinner was baked potato, shrimp, and some type of main course. i honestly don’t even remember.
we did presents afterward. got my dad some cash for new shoes and got c a flash drive with songs from the 50s and 60s for her car. i got a gift card to old navy.
next morning, started cooking when i got up about 8. apparently a dish i made a few years ago just because (for thanksgiving) has become a staple appetizer. the recipe is for roasted brussels sprouts. however, i wrap some of them in bacon. it seems each time i make them there’s larger percentage of bacon wrapped ones.

Got over to the family’s place about 12:30. Each year, a different daughter of c’s hosts christmas and chooses a theme. we’ve done traditional, italian, hawaiian, and some others. this time, we did napa wine country.
there were appetizers and dishes with a lot of wine. k, c’s daughter made quite the menu and dinner. we had appetizers like meats and cheeses with honey, and some other ones i’m not exactly sure what they were. however, they were all tasty.
we then had butternut squash soup, panko crusted honey mustard salmon, some type of flank steak, and then desert. we also had wine pairings for each course. and the kids helped and acted as servers.
but before the food, we did presents. yes, i put that out of order. but we do elfster where each person is randomly given another family member to buy for (with a 50 buck limit). this keeps people from “having” to buy for multiple folks. however, it works a lot better when people “ask” for things on their wishlists, as not to make people guess.
the person i drew wanted dexter and candles, so i got her the first 3 seasons of dexter…and a candle. i was told it smelled good by the store.
i ended up with a letter stating that my present was left at home. i was “given” cards against humanity and the first two expansion pack. your good is as good as mine as to when i will actually have these items in my hand.
if you haven’t heard/seen of it, check it out here.

it is basically apples to apples for horrible folks (aka adults).
i also got a trex mug that i’ve wanted for a while. it is pretty awesome and i am drinking much more coffee now.
