hoarding in keeping it postive

For many years, every evening I empty my wallet of the coins, stack them ready to be rolled. When there are enough, I roll them and put them away “for a rainy day”.

If I have an emergency NO ONE is going to want to accept rolled coins!!

So, starting today, I am taking the rolled coins - they are in various cans and boxes - and bring them to the bank to deposit. Today’s haul was worth $52! I asked the teller for a $50 bill - THAT I’ll stash away. I left the $2 extra in my account.

I can’t wait to see how much the total is…LOL

We do that with our extra change the market has a machine that sorts out the coins for us & we get our bills from customer service. All that goes into a safe place for emergencies or vacations.

I hope your total is high :)

So far, I deposited fifty dollars yesterday and have a hundred to deposit today. I have one small tin and two LARGE tins to go through to get them ready to be deposited. I expect the total to be on the far side of $500.

I once saved all of my coins and tips from a part time bartending job..I didn't pay attention to it for a year..and I ended up with about 2500 lol It was ridiculous..i thought I had MAYBE 500..crazy how quickly that stuff adds up!

I've been saving the coins for years - I expect it'll be a little over $500 total. I have $100 to deposit today.

mine were all rolled up - but I did discover I had many more pennies than anything else - and each roll is so heavy, and worth so LITTLE.

see..you are smart. I didnt roll mine...so I ended up spending DAYS rolling all of that change..it was horrible and my hands were BLACK lol I need to get a little rolling machine..my bank doesnt roll them anymore and I noticed that we have a giant milk can that is about half full of change..its huge too..gonna be ugly.

I bought, years ago, a coin sorter - 4 tubes, one for each kind. I just put the paper wrapper inside the tube and fill it up. I don't count any more - they may be one over or one under. I am sure it works out in the end.

I remember the black hands from handling the coins when I went to the casinos. YUCK.

I wish I had thought to do this! Good for you! :)
