Eastern philosophy can collectively be referenced to Persian, Islamic, Arabic, Jewish, Indian and Chinese philosophy, however, it can be argued that Persian, Arabic, Jewish philosophies are closer in nature to Western philosophy whilst Indian and Chinese philosophy maintains its distinction. Western society considers finding and proving ‘truth’, while Eastern society accepts truth as it is and considers finding balance in the midst of such. The West focuses on individual rights, the East of social responsibility. Central to Eastern world views is an awareness of unity and the mutual interrelation of all things encompassing parts of the cosmic whole.
