author: May Sarton

This book seems different from other books I’ve read lately. It’s warm, loving, soothing. It feels like a cup of tea and a warm comforter

The main character in the book, a woman, is writing a novel about a woman who’d been her teacher and later in life became a close friend. Although there are many men in the book, it’s mostly about women’s friendships and relationships. About how women help, support and love each other throughout life.

Although sexuality is mentioned, there’s no reference to any romantic/loving relationship exactly between any of the women who love each other. We can assume, but nothing is spelled out.

The characters would be about my mother’s age or older as the book spans most of the 20th Century.

I am looking forward to reading more novels by this author.
