Water Falling From The Sky in Life And Times

I don't know why this is even a thing, but yet again, the roadways were not entirely clear today.  I again happened to drive by some manner of roadkill.  I couldn't tell what it was.  The best description I can give is this:

It was a chunk of meat right there in the middle of the road.

Couldn't discern what it was, as far as what part of the animal had been forcibly separated from said animal.  Don't know what the animal was either.  Again, it looked like a reasonable sized chunk of meat.

It was rainy in these parts for much of the day, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised that at least one animal lost its life today, possibly because of the inclement weather.  I didn't see an actual carcass, so at least for me, I won't be able to solve that mystery.

Speaking of rain, as tends to be the case in Southern California, when it rains here, people forget that there is water falling from the sky and maybe, just maybe, we might want to drive like we have some sense.  No one seems to think that the water falling from the sky as well as the fallen water that now sits on the road, could adversely affects their vehicle's physics, compared to when it's dry outside.  Fuck hydroplaning, increased stopping distances, or lowered visibility.  Let's just continue to drive like we're participating in the Indy 500.  People are morons, especially behind the wheel of a motor vehicle when it rains.

Some of the local area saw a temporary loss of electricity and with that, a few traffic signals also lost power and stopped functioning completely.  I don't know what the law is where you are, but in California, the law is pretty simple when it comes to moving through traffic signals that are not working.  Treat those intersections like your typical 4-way intersections that are controlled by stop signs.  You know?  Those pretty red octagonal signs with the word "STOP" written on it, in write letters?  Yeah, can you at least pretend that you know what those signs are and what they look like?  I always that was a simple law to follow.  Not here apparently, because I can't tell you how many vehicles I saw this morning just completely run right through those intersections, like there were no other vehicles on the road with them.  Like I said, people are fucking morons.  Because of that level of blatantly stupidity, I had to drive cautiously, more than usual, because the last thing I needed was to be struck by one of those retarded drivers running traffic signals.  Some of them weren't even slowing down either.  They were just blowing right by those lights.  Hopefully, nobody died because of these dumbass motorists.

Kim, who lives within 10 miles of me, claims that she heard from somewhere that if the temperatures drop any lower, there's a chance that we get snow.  Snow at this altitude is rare, though not completely unheard of.  I think the last time it snowed here and I'm talking like a steady downfall was probably in 2021 or 2022.  As much as I've complained about the cold, or lack thereof, I suppose I wouldn't mind a little bit of snowfall.  I don't know.  I just don't see it, at least not tonight.

I think the rain outside helped keep me motivated throughout much of the day.  I didn't want to be in the rain.  All I wanted to do was stay in the office, hunker down, and do what I needed to do.  I think I was productive, or at least productive enough.  I suppose it really doesn't matter that much because I'll be back in that office again tomorrow.  The work is still going to be there, no matter how much I got done today.

I didn't intend for this to a weather-related entry.  I guess things were kind of slow today, at least outside of work.  It doesn't rain here all that often, so I guess when it does rain, it's almost a newsworthy event.  JB, who is from Houston, used to tell me all the time when we were in college (in Los Angeles) years ago that he always found it comical that every time it happened to rain, no matter how soft, the rain would always be the lead story on the news.  I mean, he wasn't wrong.  I just never paid that close attention.

Now Kim's talking about it snowing.

It might just be water falling from the sky, but regardless of form, it's always going to be something to talk about.
