I meant to do a recap of the Miami trip last night, but got distracted by a certain superhero who came over to demonstrate his *ahem* superpowers. Yeah. As much as it terrifies me, I’m starting to really dig Super T. To the point where I would now be very disappointed…..very disappointed….if he were to just blow me off or something.

I know. I think I’m getting ahead of myself.

I’m going to try to go with the flow here. I’m not going to push him away. But I’m not going to try to suck him in either. Whatever happens, happens. Why not just enjoy it rather than destroy it by analyzing it to death?

Enough of that. On with the trip report (in bullet form like I do for work sometimes):

Friday, September 6th :

  • As soon as I landed, I knew I was in for trouble. I was walking through the airport looking for ground transportation and a guy came running up to me asking if I was lost. He was an airport employee. All smiles. Cute as can be. I asked him where the taxi stands were, and not only did he point me in the right direction, but he walked me to the area, chatting me up the whole way! Totally hitting on me!! Don’t you think that there are better things that he could do with his time…..like enforce some security or something?!
  • This may or may not jinx me, but I blew off the “informational interview” that I’d scheduled with a company based in Miami. First of all, the guy told me that they didn’t have any positions open anyway. But they wouldn’t even pick me up at the airport. And the office is nowhere close to the airport…and it was even further away from South Beach! And I’d heard some not-so-great things about the company anyway. I didn’t feel like spending $100 on cab fare. And was so ready to just get to the hotel and relax.
  • Went to hotel and relaxed (after calling the company and making some lame excuse about how I couldn’t make it).
  • Got bored with so much relaxation and was anxious for Best Bud to arrive, so I showered and went down to the bar to have a cocktail. Got a spicy Bloody Mary from the bar and walked outside to sit in the lovely ocean breeze. Before I could even get my butt in the seat, some guy comes running up to me, asking my why I’m drinking all alone and if he could join me. Reluctantly agreed. Some kind of corporate asset lawyer or somesuch…I dunno. I don’t know my legal schmegal stuff. Probably doing very well with all the corporate scandals going on lately. All I know is that he was a pushy son of a bitch, and he was practically begging me to let him go out with BB and me that night. Wellll…we did end up exchanging numbers. I figured what the hell. With all the trouble BB and I were going to get into, it might help to have some kind of legal connection at our fingertips!
  • BB finally arrived to much fanfare!
  • Got ready and went next door to Pearl, where we were meeting BB’s “friend”, Luis (and some other friends). Before they showed up, we drank champagne and ate sushi and soaked in the atmosphere. Luis and friends (of which one was ultra gorgeous) showed up and were raring to go to this other club.
  • Cabbed it to Macarena, a combination restaurant/dance club. Started in on the martinis and soon, the tables were all pushed away to turn the entire venue into a dance floor! BB and Luis were hitting it off too well, and I made that comment to Rob, Luis’s hot friend. So the hot friend basically told me not to worry about it and pulled me out to dance. Just so happens that Rob used to be a salsa dance instructor!! Immediately, my worries were forgotten. That is, until Rob whirled and twirled me and then got a little too friendly and started touching and grabbing and groping! Huhn? Could it be some new crazy Latin dance craze? I pulled BB off the dance floor to have a little chat in the ladies’ room. Asked her what the hell was going on with these guys. They were all over us!! Not that I was really complaining, but then neither was she. And that’s what I was a little worried about. I didn’t want to facilitate an affair!
  • Turns out, the worries were for naught, because when we stepped out of the powder room, the guys were leaving! Wha?? They just all of a sudden decided that they needed to leave. Right then and there. In fact, they just walked out the door. Leaving us sort of stunned and in need of a cab back to the hotel.
  • Cab back to hotel. Cursing Luis and friends all the way.
  • Once safe and sound at around 4:30am, we decided to sit on the balcony and catch the breeze and talk. But there was a party going on in a room on the next floor up. Young guys and girls. After some talking back and forth, they invited us up to their room. Naturally, we went! Turns out, it was some girl’s 21st birthday. And she was passed out! But there were about 25 or so other kids partying and laughing and wanting to know all about us. We told them that we were old enough to be some of their MOTHERS!! They gasped!! We just laughed and drank their beer and told party stories from days of yore while they listened, all wide-eyed. So much fun to tease those kids!! The boys got a little rambunctious…trying to impress us with their coolness. Until some guy who lives in the apartments across the way started screaming across the balcony, telling us to shut up!! BB and I left before anybody called the cops!
  • Went back to our room, giggling all the way. Tried to crash. Some of the boys came knocking on our door, but we pretended that we were asleep. And with that, we went to sleep.

Long story! Will have to continue later.

Talking to LDL on the phone. Oh great….
