Festivus! (The Mellow Part) in Open Diary 2001-2018 (Pre-Prosebox)

Even though I haven’t eaten one tiny morsel of turkey over the weekend (yet), my Turkey Day turned out wonderfully.

Let’s see. First of all, I had a very quiet Thanksgiving Day. It was actually quite nice, although I tried to tackle too much all at the same time. So I ended up having about twelve projects going on at one time:

  • Cleaning out both bedroom closets. I need one for fall/winter clothes and one for spring/summer clothes, so I spent a lot of the time going from one closet to the other and switching things around. Oh, the shoes! They multiplied during the move. I don’t even want to get into it.
  • Pulling boxes out of the sunroom so that I could figure out what I want to do in there. It was decided: I’m getting a bistro bar table and barstools and I’m going to screen off part of the little room for kitty stuff (litter box, toys, etc).
  • Filing paperwork. I bought a really nice rolling file cabinet-type thingie (made of wrought iron with wicker drawers) and spent hours just getting all of my paperwork straightened. You should have seen the stuff that I just threw in boxes when I moved!! Seriously, this took most of my time, and I still have current stuff piled on the dining room table.
  • Finding so many reminders of LDL while going through all that paperwork. It had been a while since I’d gone through that crap. I guess I just tried to sweep it all up and throw it into a couple of boxes. But there were letters and cards with sweet, sweet sentiment, and photos and little gifts and reminders. Cute little packages with CDs he’d burned for me and pieces of paper with song lyrics that read as though they were written just for me. I’d forgotten how much this relationship meant to me. I’d forgotten that he was the one for me. He was my everything. But I guess that was the problem. He was my everything.
  • Coming back down to reality.
  • Just looking at the kitchen. It’s still overwhelming and too much to tackle with all the other stuff I was trying to do.
  • Throwing stuff into the second bedroom. I figure I will concentrate on four rooms to begin with: my bedroom, the living room, the bathroom, the sunroom. Then the rest of the place (kitchen, guest bedroom, dining room) can be tackled later.
  • Eating. Whenever and whatever I wanted. I stuffed myself in intervals. Courses, I guess. I pretty much munched all day long. Kitty loved that! He really liked the chicken and the meatloaf.

That’s the end of the mellow part of the day…now onto the real festivities…
