Warning: what follows is a boring entry. But it sure beats a whimpering entry or another sucky hangover:
Another day over. Another day closer to Christmas. I dont think Im going to get my packages sent in time!! When the hell am I going to get to the post office anyway? I dont think Ill be able to go until Saturday. Oh well. It could be worse. Two of my co-workers got stranded in St. Louis yesterday while the storm blew through! Glad I didnt have to go on that trip.
Went to a nice holiday luncheon yesterday with a vendor and a few of my other co-workers. Nice .but we went back to that friggin Hawaiian place (thats three times in one week!). Obviously the hottest place in town right now. Speaking of which, I havent heard a peep from Dr. H.O. since we went there and I wouldnt let him talk me into inviting him into my apartment for a little advantage-taking afterwards. Oh well. No skin off my teeth (ha).
My new company handed out turkeys to everyone yesterday. I thought this was a holiday tradition that was long gone. I used to work for another company that practiced this strange custom years ago. Im not complaining, mind you. Its a nice gesture. Plus, I have a big, fat frozen turkey hanging out in my freezer now. Okay. Maybe its not big and fat. Its 10 lbs., but it completely fills my freezer. I wish you all could see my fridge. Its so tiny!
Got my Christmas cards for my co-workers done last night. I was waiting to see what the office customs are. Its kinda cute, but kinda queer at the same time. At work, everyone hands out Christmas cards just like we used to do on Valentines Day in elementary school. Remember? Going around from decorated shoebox to decorated shoebox kinda sneaking cards to everyone? Only here they go from cubicle to cubicle sneaking in a little card and a piece of candy or something. Better than my last company where everyone handed out designer gifts with elaborate wrappings and bows and I felt quite obligated to go all out and return the gesture .only to get sidetracked and never get to everyone Id intended. Here, its easier. I got cards and cute little handmade ornaments that were very inexpensive but nice. And Im actually going to get to everyone! Hooray!
Got beautiful leather passport cases for the two heads of my areas of responsibilities. And a really pretty notebook filled with handmade paper and bound by Indian sari silk for my counterpart.
And thats the extent of my holiday co-worker gift-giving. BIG load off my mind. Now to get to everyone else.
Got the little black mobile back last night! Hooray! They fixed er up better than shes been in a long time!! Remember over the summer when I drunkenly (and very stupidly) smashed into that woman and got a giant dent in the front of my car? Fixed! Remember when I hit the pole while parking in my covered parking spot last year? Fixed! Remember scraping the wheels to shreds on several occasions? Fixed!! Oh yeah. And the other stuff that I did just recently: screwed up suspension, etc Fixed! Nice. Very nice. And to top it off, the guy at the garage was CUTE!
Went to a fabulous yoga class last night! It made me feel oh so much better about my physical condition. While I had a hard time running the stairs in the sports conditioning class on Monday night, I did probably the best Dog at Rest pose in the whole class (hee)!! Really, it was a good class and I need to start going more often because I always come out of a yoga class feeling like a brand new person. Need to buy a mat, though. For some reason, they dont provide those at my new gym. I dunno? Is it bad yoga etiquette to have to borrow one? The instructor let me borrow hers. She had an extra. I guess for dorks like me who just wander into the classroom.
And as I was just snuggling into bed and letting the sugarplums dance through my head, my phone rudely rang. I debated getting up. I usually dont. But I guess the ring was so annoying that I jumped up and answered just to stop it! It was Canuk. Just checking in. I think hes excited for my extended visit in January. Thats so nice. Im glad I have something to look forward to.
And it was a perfect end to my yesterday.
