Trip to North Carolina last week was somewhat of a waste. Though it was fun getting to know some of my co-workers better, cool to see the big corporate headquarters, awesome to go back at this time of year to see lush green hills and all the flowers in bloom .but the meetings were like sitting in a pressure cooker. I could feel my blood pressure rise at the thought of this new process theyre trying to force everyone to adopt. And I wasnt the only one arguing and asking questions (thank goodness).
And I came back to find myself on one of my bosss shit list and needing to justify this trip (even though he was the one who told me to go). Seems my teams and I have gone $10,000 over one of our budgets for the quarter, and hes asking me to find the solution to this problem. Um. Yeah. Well, it would have been nice to know what the budget was to begin with. Id asked him at least twice and never got a response. So I went with the flow with my teams .theyd never gotten a budget for this before.
Grr. Just annoyed by the fact that hes making it seem like its my fault. Dont get me wrong, hes normally pretty cool. Just raggy last week. I talked to one of the financial people to help get it squared away. She told me that it was really no big deal. I didnt get the budget figures to begin with because theyd never broken it down that way before. It was just a guess, and that theres more money in other pots that she can pull from. Still, it just pisses me off that he thinks its my issue, and now I have to jump through hoops to rectify when I never had a clue not even a warning.
Enough of that.
Went to Christys (my twin at work) wedding last night. Several of us from work went, so we met in the office parking lot and had a caravan for the hour and fifteen minute drive. It was actually quite fun. The wedding was gorgeous. Christy was stunning. Her new husband looked handsome, though hed obviously dyed his light brown hair. Hed started going gray, and I personally thought it was very attractive. But last night it was almost black! Yuck!
One of Christys cousins and I showed up wearing the same dress. Thats always fun. I had a feeling that would happen, because I bought this dress at the last minute (yesterday, to be precise) .at Banana Republic. Thats what I get for shopping mainstream. But I didnt have time .and nothing in my closet looks good on me right now. Shit.
Yeah. So I stepped on the scale at the gym yesterday. I dont understand. How can I be gaining weight? I think its all water though, because I feel bloated like a balloon filled with oatmeal or something. I could barely get my ring off my finger the other night. And its one of those ½ size too big rings that slides around, ya know? How does one get rid of water weight? Is it by drinking more water?
Anyway, our group got bored with the wedding reception, and most of the caravan just wanted to go home. But Holly (my date of sorts) and I wanted to stop in the college town thats about halfway home. We ended up at this little corner lounge that totally brought me back to my college days. Its so funny to see the young guys in these full, scraggy beards. I know those little billy goat gruffs have been around for a while (you know, those really long goatee thingies that hang down), but when did giant, hairy beards a la Tom Hanks in Castaway become so hip? Ick.
I think the strangest thing about the night was when a guy asked me where I got my purse (?!). He thought it was cool. I mean, yeah .it is a great bag .I got it at a little surf shop in Huntington Beach, but um. Its a purse!
Ah, kids these days.
So its Sunday. Its cloudy. And Id really love to just crawl back into bed. But there are things to do. Need to go to Home Depot to get a bigger anchor for the damn curtain that keeps falling in my front window. Never got that fixed last weekend (did I write about how hungover I was last Sunday?). And the fabric store is calling my name. And so is Target.
Im feeling motivated. Better get going while Im still in this state
More later. Remind me to tell you about the e-mail series from Secret Agents friend on Friday.
