Whatever happened to beautiful, calming, springtime thunderstorms that would lull me into deeper slumber? These nasty Midwestern ones only shake me awake with their high winds and golfball sized hail. The one passing through now is whipping winds up to 80 mph across the area. Mix in a rotation or two on the radar, and Im fully awake with the TV on and a mildly freaked out cat clinging to me.
Actually, the storms died down quite a bit. But I cant sleep any more. Good time to write an entry, I guess.
So. Whatever happened with Boss #2? You know, the one who was upset with me because I wasnt spending enough time working on stuff for his area? Well, he came back from New York on Thursday, just in time for a big sales meeting in our office. All of our national salespeople were in town, so that meant a big dinner for all. Since there was no time that day to sit down and talk with him, I made it a point to strike a conversation during cocktails that evening.
Perfect move! Because that eased us into dinner. I sat next to him (at the Presidents table, no less!), and we had a really good talk. And then I think hed had just enough wine to let me in on a little secret project that hed been thinking about shhhhh, not a word to anyone and Id had just enough wine to tell him, I so want in on it!
It could be the coup of the year! It involves a lot of outside work and I feel a lot of blood, sweat, and tears welling up. But I think its a cool idea, and I feel so much better about our situation. I just have to make sure that I can live up to the promise of spending more time with him and his team.
And that time started yesterday. Unfortunately, I didnt get tons of stuff accomplished because I was so hung over from the night before! Luckily, the day started with a loooong meeting where I only played an advisory role. I only had to observe and share my opinion. Nice. Gotta love those meetings.
And while were on the subject of work, whatever happened to Mr. Peepers? Some of you may recall that I had a real monkey-ass of a boss at my last job. He came in, stealing my promotion and proceeded to harass and embarrass me during meetings and just generally make my life hell for his own warped pleasure and sense of power.
Yes, Im far removed from that nasty situation. So why am I writing about him now? Well, I got an e-mail from an old work buddy yesterday telling me that Peepers had been escorted out of the building by the head of HR. Appears his cocky attitude and general assholishness had finally caught up with him. I dont have all the juicy details yet, but I think it had a lot to do with being very vocal about being unhappy there and that hed apparently had an interview with a vendor at his desk within earshot of lots of people!! Brilliant, that Mr. Peepers.
And I hate to say it, but I finally feel a bit of vindication. And I was practically giddy at the thought of his removal like that. The only thing better than hearing that news would have been if Id actually been able to see the whole thing go down.
Talk about making my day.
So, whatever happened to my Friday night? Well, I went home yesterday drained and exhausted and still somewhat feeling the effects of that nasty wine we drank the night before. So I ended my week happily snoozing on the couch. Unfortunately, this is becoming routine.
And this is also one of the reasons why I woke up so early. The good thing is .I now have the whole weekend ahead of me! And I think Im going to start with the 8:30am cardio class at the gym and go from there.
I dont want to waste it and have to spend Sunday night asking myself what happened to my weekend .
