Sunday Fluff in Open Diary 2001-2018 (Pre-Prosebox)

Did the delicious sleep-in this morning. I just got up and fixed myself a cup of tea and a plate of sliced apples and swiss cheese. So cozy and yum. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that it’s Sunday and the only thing I have planned today is to spot clean the apartment, have coffee with one of my neighbors, and do laundry.

Ran errands all day yesterday. Because of my fear of driving through the ice and snow, I went to get new all-weather tires put on my poor little baby of a car. Of course, the guy at the tire place played upon my fears and sold me the fancy-pants, super anti-vulcanization, shark-skin action tread, mega tires. After all was said and done, I spent $550 on those puppies. And that was after I’d used coupons and talked him down and practically cried told him that I wouldn’t have any more Christmas money left.

But I was pleasantly surprised to find that when I got back in my car and started driving, there was a noticeable difference in the handling. I’m not sure if it was just my imagination, but I feel safer in that car than I have in a long time. I suppose peace of mind is worth a lot, eh? Merry Christmas to me.

And speaking of me, my gift shopping has gotten out of hand this year. It seems that for every person I buy a gift, I get another for myself! What’s up with that? Not big things. Just little extra odds and ends that catch my eye. For example, the jewelry party. I bought earrings for Best Bud, a pretty pin for Mom, and a bracelet for…me. I found a funny little watch for BB online, and bought that “I Heart Dorks” one for….me. I found my dad a great world band radio on Amazon.com. So I got him that and ordered some books for….me. Ended up at Target yesterday thinking I might find some little gifty things for people at work. I ended up with no gifts for anyone else, but a bunch of workout clothes for…me. Damn. Looks like a banner year for me. I’m ashamed.

Found a primo spot in front of the apartment building last night after my shopping excursion. I got out of the car and started up the steps on the front porch. A cutie from the third floor was standing there talking to someone on the phone, obviously a girl. But he held his finger out in a “hold on” motion and quickly got the girl off the phone. He told me that he was having a party and wanted me to come. I thanked him and told him that I’d probably stop by. Aaah! A perfect excuse for NOT going out last night!

I did end up stopping by. In fact, I stayed practically all night, first talking with Casey, a friend of the Cute Boy, and then JT, the Cute Boy’s roomie. The Cute Boy had been friendly, but occupied all night by either the DJ booth they’d set up or this little chippy he’s sort of dating (the girl on the phone).

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to talk to Cute Boy. He is definitely the cutest boy in this building. We’ve talked before. He’s a tall, lanky thing with the kind of crazy hair that I just adore, and the most precious face ever. He’s a soft-spoken social worker and just as sweet as can be to everyone. He was in rare form last night. Drunk and a little high, he was all over the place. I can tell he will get dissed by his “girlfriend” fairly soon. She’s one of those stunningly gorgeous, deliciously exotic, painfully hot girls who know it. She sat there on the couch while he ran circles around her like a lovesick puppy. I sat there with JT and observed it all.

Now, the discovery of JT was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t even know Cute Boy had a roommate! He’s a med student who stays in a lot and really has different hours. I found him quite fascinating. He’s an amazing photographer and painter. The apartment walls are covered in his stuff. Odd angles and subjects. A lot of his stuff has to do with the things that he’s studying. Like internal organs and skeletal-looking things. The more I looked around, the more I discovered. And by the time I started feeling sleepy, it was 3 am, and we were the last two left. We decided to call it a night and meet up at some point today for coffee.

I love impromptu gatherings.

So glad to have last week behind me. This week is going to be a bear, but at least I’m done with the video (HUGE sigh of relief), and I don’t really have to do any presentations at the sales meeting besides just introducing the video. There’s a big dinner and awards ceremony tomorrow night, and a group of us are going to try to sneak out to catch the Jane’s Addiction show. Can’t wait to see how that goes over. I just hope we’ll be done with most of the dinner/awards part and moved onto the shots at that point (the prez. just loooovvvveess to make his staff do shooters…I thinks it’s to build some kind of drunken camaraderie). Hopefully, no one will notice if we sneak away at that point.

Well, I suppose I should get moving. Laundry’s calling. I should start thinking about Christmas cards too. I found a great and EASY chocolate bark recipe while I was waiting for my tires to be installed. I’d like to try that. That could cover the co-worker dilemma. So much to do!
