I (again) debated on whether or not to do another Rate-A-Date here because this one was a surprise, and didnt even really start out as a date it started out as some very innocent e-mails and ended up as fun on an icy/snowy/cold Sunday.
Name: KA
Age: 32
Relationship Status: never married, but sounds like hes been through a bit of the trauma (but then, who hasnt?)
Occupation: hopeful restauranteur
Length of date: 7 hours
We met: for warm coffee drinks at a café near my apartment
I wore: Jeans, black sweater, black boots, my leopard print coat
He wore: layered sweaters, well-worn khakis, great big shoes, funky glasses, pea coat
We did: Had our coffee drinks and laughed and laughed. Then I went with him to find a hat (pom pom style). Then he went with me to the phone store cuz Im looking for a new cell phone. Then we went back to the café and had mussels and hummus and wine. Then we went to see Cold Mountain and made out under the leopard print coat instead of watching the movie. In fact, left in the middle of the movie to stand in the hallway and (fairly innocently) grope each other. Then snuck in to see about 5 minutes of LOTR. Then wandered around until I told him that I had to go home!
Convo: You name it. It was fluid and easy, and though my dorkish side shone through, I didnt care. And I didnt feel dorky with him (perhaps because he was dorky with me too?).
Part of personality I liked: Sweet and funny and terribly charming
Part of personality I disliked: So, sooooo eager to follow me home like a puppy. Sure, it made me feel good and all, but I told him that I had things to do last night.
Part of appearance I liked: Tall and lanky and boyishly handsome.
Part of appearance I disliked: Nope.
Highest Point: Under the leopard print coat: him looking at me adoringly and telling me Im beautiful and kissing me really, really sweetly.
Lowest Point: Having to pull away. Oh, and losing an earring due to the groping. He was so cute…after we left the theater, he went back inside to stumble around in the dark and try to find the damn thing.
How it ended: Him walking me home and kissing me goodbye. Then he called me from a bar down the street to see if he could come over just to hang out. I felt guilty telling him no, but I needed my alone and down time last night to get myself ready for my trip.
Chances I’ll see him again: Pretty damn good.
