So Tuesday afternoon, my team from the special project at work decided to have an off-site brainstorming session. Yeah, you know where this is going. We decided to meet at a bar so we could get our creative juices flowing.

The first part was more of a bitch session regarding the consulting firm that is working with us. They are piling on so much work and giving us so little direction that we feel like we are getting way off track. The director of marketing for our company is on our team, so I think we have just a tiny bit of an unfair advantage because she gets some inside scoop from the top. She told us some stuff that she probably shouldn’t have, especially since we have a leaker amongst us. Not an OD leaker, but a tattletale. It was nasty, gossipy stuff.

Soon, all the people who had families they needed to go home to split. And then there were three.

The three of us spent the rest of the night basically letting off steam after a visit to B & N to buy a marketing book (work!). It was fun. We laughed and bar hopped, and a cute bartender took a liking to us so he made us a bunch of shots (whoops.) and then wouldn’t charge us anything. We gave him a nice tip. Er, our company gave him a nice tip.

Yesterday the leaker leaked, causing all kinds of commotion in the office. It was as if this person could not wait to get back to the office and spout off about how we left the office so we could drink while we had our meeting and then tell the other groups (who we’re competing against!) what was said in our meeting…all of it. No juicy detail was spared. And of course, she twisted it all around and…ugh…what a mess.

Bottom line, it sparked a mutiny. I swear, life has a way of dishing out the drama no matter where you are or what you’re doing. I suppose it’s a way to make up for the lack of drama going on elsewhere in my life.

I did finally have a talk with my boss. I don’t know if it got me anywhere, but at least he knows what goes on in my little world now. He was obviously quite shocked at all the stuff I’ve been doing. And though I suggested a little help, I’m worried that he’s gonna take it to another level and create a whole new layer. Of course, he made it look like I was going to actually have a staff. I just know it won’t work out that way. We’re not structured that way. Whatever. Boring stuff. But this is the stuff that keeps me awake at night.

I have a date tonight with this guy. I ran into him last Friday when I snuck out of the office to take a sanity break and to eat lunch. I didn’t see him at first, but when I sat down at my table to start eating, he walked up to me and asked how I’d been doing, all curious-like. It was if he was looking at me with new eyes. I could sense true interest. As he started to leave he said that we should go out and do something sometime. I was like, HELLO?! I left the ball squarely in your court several months ago and you never called! He was all, yeah…yeah…I know. Blah, blah. Then I told him that I have a new number and gave it to him. And whaddya know? He called on Monday. We’re supposed to go see Eternal Sunshine….

I hesitated when he asked me to see it because Paul and I had talked about seeing it. But Paul hasn’t asked yet (though he did call me while I was in my “brainstorming session” on Tuesday night. I didn’t answer the phone). Whatever.

I’m not really excited about it now. But I do want to see the movie. So there you go. Date=Bluh, but Movie=Yay!

Let’s see. What else is new? Spring is coming!! I’m bracing for the tornados.
