Hi Diary!
Today I have focused on work, work, work! It’s been sort-of exciting but sort of exhausting at the same time. I’ve been here at this coffee shop since 1pm and before that I was at home on email or the phone or out looking at another location for my phone interview today.
So last night while I was at dinner with Dick and crew, I got a phone call but I was unaware until I got the message later. Turns out it was a guy calling me about a visual manager position. It’s not something that I’m super excited about, but it just may be something to tide me over for a little while. We’ll see. I returned his call this morning and we made an appointment for a Friday afternoon interview. Hm.
Made another quick networking phone call to someone who’s a friend of my CRAZY (but connected) friend Fred and is a high-up at a company based here in [my current city]. They’d had a position I’d applied for weeks ago, and since I hadn’t heard anything back from them, I thought I’d just poke around a bit. Left a message.
Then I did a quick blog entry and got ready to head out to do more research for my afternoon phone interview.
As soon as I got to my destination, I heard my phone ring but didn’t make it outside in time to pick up the phone.
Voice mail.
Turns out it was an HR person at the company I’d JUST left my networking message with! They are looking for designers for their brand new STUDIO! Oh yeah!!! I tried to call her back right away, but it went to her VM. Phone tag. Ick.
Then I left a message with my friend Fred and told him that someone from his connection’s company had called me and that I wanted some emergency advice! But before Fred could get back with me, the HR person called me back and we talked for quite a while. She asked me to send her some samples of my work so that she could meet with the Design Director at 3:00.
Then Fred called and we talked and LAUGHED until it was time for my 2:00 phone interview. Hung up and my 2:00 called ON THE DOT. Spoke to this HR Exec for 48 minutes. No sense of humor, but I guess she doesn’t have to have one, right? Bottom line is, I REALLY want this one. This would be the opportunity of a lifetime, and I think it’s my chance to ROCK the HIZZ!!
I just wish I could have gotten a better read with HR chick. She was…. I don’t know. And then! She told me that the boss is in NY this week and is taking a vacation next week, so I won’t hear back for at least TWO WEEKS–if I even hear back at all.
Grrrmmmpphhhhh. I’m perfect for this job. I told HR chick that I would like to have an opportunity to speak with the boss in person when shes back from vacation so that I could show her my visuals.
If I can just get a face-to-face I know that I would WOW her! I just know it!!
Good vibes. Gooooood viiiiiibes!
Then. I talked with Fred again and he’s all over getting me in with company #2. Meanwhile there’s company #1 I can’t forget about because what if the others fall through?
And on top of allllllll that, I had a nice long conversation with my dad about the fact that I still want to consult. He gave me some additional proposal ideas, and Fred actually gave me some great ideas as well.
The energy is flowing! I feel like I’m on the brink of something fantastic. I’m open and ready for something biiiiiigggggg.
