PIC OF THE DAY!

Well, finally! Here it is: The Bag. I have a million more photos, but I think I’ll save them for a friends only entry because some of them have me working on different steps in them.

TODAY…

1. Thankful for making connections and getting people together…also that people are doing the same for me.

2. Thankful to have a fun guy to do some “market research” with!

3. Thankful to have Round #2 of interviews set up with the company I’m really interested in. Next week!

4. Thankful for friends and fam. They are always there!

5. And of course, I’m always just so very thankful for noters who pass along very valuable information and advice.

So I’m finally getting around to uploading those leather bag photos. I might post a whole series of them in another entry. Or I might just do a story on my blog. I have been remiss in updating lately, and it’s just crying out for an update. Hell, even my mom called and asked me for the latest and greatest. You know it’s time for an update when your mother asks. Especially my almost legally computer illiterate mother.

Regardless, there she is. Isn’t she a beaut? Of course, there are many things I would change about that bag now that it’s all said and done. But I think anyone who’s just built something for the very first time says that very same thing. I just notice my own design flaws.

Luckily, I still have plenty of time to craft more leather. Sort of. It depends on all the things that are going on around the studio. Lots to do!! I’ve been invited to an artist community meeting tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to that. AND I’ve been asked to create some styles for a HUGE even that’s taking place next weekend. Hm. Not sure I can get another bag out by then! We’ll see. I will try and I’ll do my very best (Agreement #4).

Had lunch on Monday with Chris, my fellow councilmember (job search organization) and new friend. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say there’s just the tiniest bit of crush action going on there. I don’t mind it one bit. It’s all totally harmless as he’s married and has three little ones, but I find him completely brilliant and so much fun!

He’s the one with the startup project I’m helping him beta test. It’s kind of a cool SMS-based dating/meeting service. I recently hooked him up with a writer friend of mine (MikeD), who just did a feature on the startup in his daily website blast. It’s fun being a guinea pig with him, and he pays me back by taking me to lunch from time to time and sending me hilarious emails and job advice and even leads.

Meanwhile, he was just offered a job directing a division at an advertising agency. I’m so excited for him! Not only that, his development team is in the Philippines and he’s off on a 10-day trip to help get his people in gear. I get so motivated and inspired when I’m with him.

How lucky I am to have been able to find friends like this!

MikeD (mentioned above) is the guy I’ve been the tiniest bit curious about recently. I FB friended him simply in an effort to get him hooked up with Chris because I thought it would be mutually beneficial for the two of them (it has been!), but I noticed that his emails were quite flirty and mentioned the two of us getting together for drinks.

I didn’t read anything into it, but when I finally got us all together, I could kind of feel some attraction going on in the air.

He’s the one who invited both me and Cindy to his Superbowl party. We are going, and I have been looking forward to it because I was kind of ready to test my theory.

And then…

His FB status suddenly went from “single” to “in a relationship”.

Whaaaaa?

Yeah, so I asked him about it in an email (just in passing, I had to ask him about some other things and tell him how awesome I thought his article on Chris’s project was), and he was all: yeah, my gf and I worked some things out.

I wrote back and said something like, “I’m glad you two made up. Sort of.”

To which he replied, “I’m not betrothed yet.”

Hm. Dangerous? Yes. Still I’m curious to see how the SB party goes down!

Speaking of dangerous, my yoga class nearly KILLED me on Monday. It wasn’t Yoga Man so much this time.

No, what killed me were the new people I’d never seen in this class before. Monday night alone, the new players included: a professional dancer, a professional fighter, and a professional football playa!! Ohhhh la la!

The dancer moved with more sex appeal than I’ve ever seen.

The fighter was handsome and his form was amazing.

But the football player pretty much did me in. About halfway through the class, Mr. Football must’ve gotten super-de-duper hot. Hot enough to take his shirt off. And there, in all his incredibly tall, insanely ripped, shiny, sweat-soaked glory, was the most stunning sight. I almost fell flat on the floor.

But I made it without passing out or drooling like a freak–I have to admit that I was much sweatier than normal, but HOT damn, man.

Greatest. Yoga. Class. EVAH.

Today I had lunch with the most fascinating guy who lives in my building. He’s super flamboyantly gay, and is my biggest fashion fan. He loooooves to see what I’m wearing every time we see each other in the hallway. He’s even invited me over to dinner a while back so that we could dish fashion, but we got our wires crossed and that didn’t end up happening.

Finally, we got our act together and he treated me to the most delicious lunch at this brand new Asian place that specializes in soba noodles. Oh man, I am SO going there again, ASAP.

He heads up an organization that helps educate gay men on the prevention of HIV and other STDs. I was amazed when he told me of the ignorance that is still out there. It really made me think a lot about safety and protection. I so appreciate what he’s doing–making a big, big difference, even though his family is giving him all kinds of shit about his job being immoral. Immoral!! WTF? This man is SAVING LIVES!!

After lunch, I drove him to his office and he showed me around. They have places set up for roundtables and group therapy and other counseling type meetings. I am really impressed with what he’s doing here, and he even invited me to a couple of meetings.

We had such a great time talking and I’m so happy that I have another new friend.

And of course, no entry of late would be complete without a CC update.

Bottom line: things are pretty great! I’m settling down with the inner freakouts and he’s warming up to “us” quite nicely. I completely enjoy our time together, and he is never, ever at a loss for things to do, places to go, stuffto talk about, and treats to shower me with!

He took me out last night to do some “research”. He just got the green light for a brand new concept restaurant he’s developing, and he’s alllllll about checking out possible competition (read: eat/drink/sample!) and figuring out how to complement the area where his new place will be going.

I get to reap the benefits simply by tagging along and offering my input, to which he is amazingly receptive! It’s much fun, and I feel like I’m actually doing my part in helping him develop his plan. He makes me feel so useful, which in turn makes me quite proud to be by his side during all of this.

Unfortunately, this is not such a great plan for my waistline. Ufff. Just when I was getting okay with the fact that we’re gonna get totally nekked with each other.

No sex yet. He knows the score. It’s all good, clean, delicious fun.

So, things I have to look forward to:

  • Finally got Round #2 interviews scheduled with the company I’m very interested in. I am slated to be there ALL DAY! Ugh. I hate all-day interviews, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
  • Date on Saturday with CC.
  • More projects at the leather studio
  • NEED to update blog, STAT!
  • And….what’s up for Valentine’s Day???? NO idea!

That’s enough for now. I feel spent and a little drained and there’s even more to write!! But I will go for now and send you off with gigantic hugs and lots and lots of L.O.V.E.
