PIC OF THE DAY!
Shells. In baskets.
TODAY…
1. Thankful for the fabulous weekend with old and new girlfriends.
2. Thankful for meeting two new and interesting men
3. Thankful for my job (I’m going to be saying that for a long, long time, I’m sure!)
4. Thankful to come home to this place.
5. Thankful for laughing so hard over the weekend.
I’m awake. I’ve been awake for a while, so I decided to get on here and try to figure out what happened to [calendargirl]. If it is indeed true what I’m hearing in tiny, tiny bits and fractured pieces, I…well, I don’t know what to say. I really hope it’s all a bad dream. I mean, there have been hoaxes before, and I just don’t want to believe that the little bit I’ve heard is true. Please be okay. Okay?

I have a shitload to write. I’ve been busy. I don’t even know where to start.
I have two RADs to report, so let’s get right to it, why don’t we? These both happened on the same day, last Thursday. I’d taken the day off because I’d negotiated them off when I got the job. I thought I was going to have to move. Instead, I get to stay put. So I went on dates and then went to L.A. Here are the dates:
*****
R-A-D #1
Name: Mike(y) you had to be there. I asked him if I could call him Mikey. He said yes.
Age: 42
Relationship Status: Divorced (2 years), 2 kids (Girl=12, Boy=8)
Occupation: Insurance Advisor (his customers are financial planners. Dont really understand the business, but thats what I gathered from our conversation.
He Wore: Dress shirt, green/blue striped tie (really liked!), pinstripe pants, nice dressy loafers
I Wore: It was super warm, but windy. I wore a black flippy sundress that flipped around in the wind and exposed me a la Marilyn Monroe approximately 50 times that day.
Length of Date: 1 hour, 45 minutes
What We Did: Met at a coffee shop even though hes not a coffee drinker. He had a green tea. I had a green tea latte.
First Impressions: Hes tall, handsome (blond hair, blue eyes), very physically fit. I like his confidence (see: Convo).
Convo: Hes a very confident man. I like that. In fact, he was SO confident that I felt almost off my game. I was a tad nervous and possibly even shy. But I think (hope) he found it endearing. Regardless, we talked about well, the usual. I told him about all of the places Ive lived, visited and places Id like to see. He talked about his work and his kids. We also talked about scheduling to see each other again. He has his kids 50% of the time, so there is definitely some scheduling to be done. All in all, it was a decent conversation. Pleasant. Not too uncomfortable. Id actually say enjoyable. If I wasnt so weary of the dating scene. It was fine.
High Point: I guess the highest point was seeing him. Hes an attractive man with a lot of great qualities. He did tell me that Night Time Mike is a lot more handsome and fun, so theres that.
Low Point: Not really a low point either. I mean, it was a quick meet-up over tea. Not really a lot that could go wrong (or incredibly excitingly RIGHT either).
How it Ended: He had to leave because he had a meeting at 4. Wed spent the whole time talking, so that was a positive. He walked me to my car and wrapped his arms around me and gave me a nice couple of quick pecks on my lips.
Chances Ill See Him Again: Were setting something up for this weekend!
Lesson(s) Learned: It never hurts to check them out, right? You never know.

R-A-D #2
Name: Mark. So thats a Mike and a Mark one right after the other!
Age: 42
Relationship Status: Divorced (4 years), 4 kids (All boys = 20, 18, 14, 13)
Occupation: Some kind of big IT geek at IBM
He Wore: Dress shirt (no tie), dress pants .the usual. Nice but fairly nondescript.
I Wore: See previous RAD. Yes, it was still very windy. Yes, I was flashin folks.
Length of Date: approx. 4 hours
What We Did: Drinks/snacks at bar in same neighborhood as RAD #1
First Impressions: Very tall! More handsome than his photos in some ways and in other ways, not. Some of his pix were overly flattering while some of them didnt do him justice. I guess its the same for most of us (including me Ive been told I look better/different than my pix as well).
Convo: A tad strained at first, but I think it was all me. See, I thought Id had the good date earlier in the day, so I didnt think this one was going to be a hit. I was wrong. We ended up having a GREAT time lots of laughs and interesting conversation (from movies to marriage to cheating to earthquakes, etc. etc.)
High Point: Figuring out that I was attracted.
Low Point: Feeling that old familiar tickle in my throat. Nothing to do with the date, just the beginnings of a cold, and I knew I was leaving before the crack of dawn sick and not even packed!
How it Ended: I started stressing a little bit about the fact that it was almost 11pm and I still hadnt packed and my flight was at 7am!! He walked me to my car and gave me a peck and told me he wanted to see me again. Score #2!!
Chances Ill See Him Again: Date is set for this Thursday!
Lesson(s) Learned: Just because you meet someone great one day doesnt mean you arent going to meet another!!
*****
I spent last weekend in Los Angeles. Yes, there are a million things I could have done and plenty of people I should have contacted while there, but this one was for the girls. I came back exhausted, drained, with a pretty bad cold. But it was so, so worth it!
I have a lot of pix I still need to post on facebook, and I thought I’d put some here, but I’m so bad at posting here because I can’t really post the ones with me in them without going friends-only. I’m tired of all the double posting. *yawn*
What can I tell you? Fun weekend full of laughs, LOTS of good eating, and plenty of cocktails (though it wasn’t one of those over-the-top quickie trips of yore. Perhaps we’re getting older?).
A fun side-note: Guess who sat in front of me on the plane ride back? Ken Jeong, the Asian actor who got naked in The Hangover movie, among other things. I like him! It was kinda funny, too, because he was on the in-flight entertainment during the flight as well (some sitcom with Chevy Chase — I forget what it’s called), and he was obviously excited about it! He was very vocal and name-droppy during the flight. Funny.
And THEN. You’ll never guess who I almost literally bumped into when I got off the plane.
Um. Yeah. Captain K.
Here’s the scenario. I get off the plane and instead of going straight to baggage claim, I decided to go to the bathroom, which is right next to one of the security checks. And as I was walking, I spied this very tall, handsome pilot, all decked out in uniform out of the corner of my eye…surely it can’t be Captain K, right? Ah, but it was!
And in case you were wondering if I’d actually told him not to contact me (as some had recommended in previous entries), yes. I have it in writing. See exhibit A:
So, what did he do when he saw me? He walked up to me and said, “This is MY rock. Go find your own!”
I thought it was funny. But I was freaked out that it may have opened a whole new can of worms. It did in a way because he contacted me afterward, but I haven’t engaged or responded in any way.
Just weird.
When I finally got back into town, I called my parents, who just happened to be in my neck of the woods, so I got to meet them for brunch (though I declined to eat because that’s ALL I’ve been doing lately–UGH!). Great little surprise and a bonus visit!
Then.
CC came back to town. From his 2 1/2 week wine-tasting excursion in France. And he wanted to see me. And we hadn’t had our heart-to-heart yet.
So we had it Sunday night. Pretty much as soon as I walked in his door. I’ll expound on it later, I’m sure. In fact, I want to write alllllll about it.
But I seem to have come to the time I always do during entry writing lately. Time to stop what I’m doing and get ready for work!!
I’ll be back shortly, I’m sure. I have tons more to write and maybe I’ll get the energy to post pix, etc. Plus I want to pick more relationship-y stuff apart!
