OK, so I’m backdating because yesterday (Nov. 9) was such a loooonnnggg day! Seriously, I talked and listened and talked some more from 11am until 5pm. So by the time I was out of there…damn. I just didn’t want to talk/write/communicate with anyone anymore.
In fact, I’m still so exhausted by yesterday’s string of interviews that I don’t even want to write today.
So here’s the cliff’s notes of all of my interviews from yesterday:
1. VP Guy (Potential New Boss): Super dry, super serious. I was with him for hours yesterday and I’m sure it was to see if we would gel. He was still trying to get me to be to prove myself in the areas where I clearly have less experience, and I think I did that pretty well. He’s insecure. Probably has a super small penis because not only does he drive a Porsche, but he has TWO of them.
2. CEO: VERY nice man. Obviously very smart, and we had what I thought was a good rapport. We talked private equity a bit (company is privately owned as is my current company), and I think I impressed him with my knowledge of what’s happening with my current company as well as the state of the industry. I think he liked me. We had a nice time.
3. CFO: My absolute favorite of all the people I interviewed with. Extremely laid back and cool. I have some knowledge of his previous experience because SexyPants is in his previous industry and SP and I talked at length about it before. We also have some former colleagues in common. Not only is he CFO but he’s also head of Human Resources and IT (yes, it is that small a company!). He’s the one person I wanted to talk and talk with. Alas, our time was cut a little short.
4. VP Sales: Yes, as I suspected, the cockiest of them all. He was very nice looking, a bit smug, albeit friendly and fairly welcoming. Dressed well. The only one of these guys who wore a wedding band. Didn’t walk away with the warm fuzzes, but still, I think we had a good conversation.
5. Product Manager: One of my would-be staff. Turns out, Chris is a woman. In fact, a very nice one. Older that I would have thought (probably early 50s), and has been in this industry for 15 years!! Very concientious and willing to please. It was obvious that I was interviewing her, and that’s a good thing. If the rest of my possible staff of 3 is as nice and obviously hard-working as she is, I will have it made.
After all of the interviews I had MORE time with Potential New Boss. I asked him about his organizational structure, and he has the largest staff. I would have 5 counterparts, each of us with a staff of 2-3.
Was good, but exhausting. I was waaaaay too tired to have a “normal” conversation with the recruiter afterwards. In fact, SexyPants and I went out and drank a lot of tequila and then acted stupid after all of that. It’s all I could muster.
Now, the waiting.
XXOO!!!
