The following photo was taken at a football game on Saturday:

Where was this game taking place? England? Turkey? Cardiff (the scene of problems a couple of weeks ago)?
Nope. Try Aberdeen. The game was stopped for 20 minutes while the police tried to calm the fans down. The referee admits he was tempted to stop the game altogether.
It all started when Rangers fans threw coins at an Aberdeen player when he went to take a penalty. Aberdeen fans then attempted to get to the Rangers fans.
There are claims that fans from England came up and were part of the problem.
Aberdeen – Rangers games from now on will be likely to have a lunchtime kick-off if televised live (the same rule applies to all Old Firm games).
I have a simpler solution. Make this the rule for ALL televised games in Scotland.
If the game is live on Sky, kick-off is at 5:35pm. Opening time for pubs is 11am. It doesn’t take a genius to work out where the majority of fans will spend the time before the match. All this just to keep Sky happy. They must take some of the blame for this.
The SPL hopes to start it’s own TV channel for the live games, if Sky pull out of Scottish football. There is a good chance after Saturday that they will do.
If this happens, hopefully the games will start at a decent time. Stop the fans drinking beforehand.
