Four Sports Science Students from Loughborough have caused a sensation in the sporting world by entering an untried novice hurdler in Wednesday‘s Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The National Hunt’s blue ribbon event has been thrown into turmoil by the syndicates ability to somehow exploit a loophole in the Jockey Club rules and enter the three year old gray as a runner.

The syndicate going only under the name of The Musketeers offered little in the way of comment other than to give the name of the horse Notaruddyhope (all one word).

Their spokesman a strangely titled Mr D.Artanian then expressed that they would pursue an “all for one and one for all” mentality when approaching the race.

He suggested that the horse would be a leading contender in the field and that odds of several thosand to one represented good value for an each way punt.

The jockey club were unavailable for comment although they did say that they had certain reservations about the entry, not least that the horse had “never run before” and that the jockey “registering around the sixteen stone mark” caused concern for the horses well being, bearing in mind the notorious Cheltenham finishing stretch.

Keep your ears pricked for more info on this ground breaking story.

That’s what I like to hear. Students doing what we do best. No, not study, causing chaos.

On an unrelated note, I started a new CWPD Go. Have a look.
