Ladies and gentlemen, could I ask for a minutes silence. In addition to the death of Joe Strummer mentioned above I would also like to announce, after 50 years, the death of the British singles chart. It was killed off by a cynical exercise by a television company and two music producers, one of whom claims to love the music industry. The success of Girls Aloud and One True Voice prove that talent, hard work and dedication mean nothing in the charts. It’s all about image and marketing.
And finally, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And if you don’t celebrate either, have fun anyway.
