Friday, I spent all day sat on front of the computer. Typing. My assignment for my scriptwriting class was due in.
The script itself wasn’t a problem. Just needed a bit of expanding, which I managed to do.
The step outline, however, was a different matter.
The assignment was for a 15 page/minute script. (It usually works out at one page per minute, but it depends on the dialogue/action mix.) I could have done a script for a short film, but there was no way my idea could be squished down. So I took option 2 and wrote 15 minutes of a longer script.
Which meant I had to do a step outline. Which is what it sounds like. Going through the film, scene – by – scene, detailing what is going to happen.
This is where I encountered a major headache. You see, my idea deals with the Second Coming. More specifically, what would happen if 2 people claimed to be the Second Coming. And could both perform miracles. The twonspeople are wondering which one to believe in while the two of them attempt to out miracle themselves.
It all comes to a head when there is a major disaster where the two of them have to combine their powers.
Or that was the original idea.
A popular cry, from me, in the LRC was thus:
I NEED A DISASTER!
Eventually, I decided to have a major road accident with the two of them working in unison.
I got it handed in about 10 minutes before deadline. (Have to admit, I’m with Douglas Adams when it comes to the subject of deadlines.)
Then went for well deserved pint.
Friday was also my last shift at work. But my mind was so fried I decided to pull a sickie. Should really have let work know I wasn’t going to be in.
Will.
