Life has been quite busy this week. We finally decided to get a new computer. Our old one had been around a long time (2006?). The chip couldn’t keep up with the modern internet. We had the side of the computer open and a fan blowing on it the whole time it was running. We had it up high so the kids couldn’t accidentally run into it and used switches on a power strip to turn it on and off. We actually thought we would have to replace it a few months ago when it wouldn’t work even with the fan blowing. But it turned out to just be that the fan wasn’t working anymore.

It was getting to where it would shut off when it was just sitting there and not running any programs. So we decided to get a new computer. While we were at it we decided to switch internet service providers. There is an intro offer from one company that is really good. After six months it gets more expensive, so I’m not sure what we will do after that. I am also thinking of getting a tablet. Haven’t really started looking at those yet.

When we had parent teacher conferences last week, Kayla’s teachers mentioned that she doesn’t volunteer to answer questions in class. My husband and I talked to her about it. We said that her teachers know that she is doing well on written tests, and are wondering why she doesn’t talk during class. She said that she is worried that other people won’t be able to hear her when she speaks. We have been having her practice projecting her voice like she’s speaking to the class. We have set a goal that starting next week she is going to raise her hand once each day in whichever class she wants to.
