It feels like every time I write on here it’s me complaining about something in my life. I suppose one of my new year’s resolutions will for me to complain less on here. However, since it’s still 2025, I’m going to complain one last time this year.
My mother has been obsessed with me going back to college to get my M.A. in something. She doesn’t really care what it would be in, as long as I have an M.A. in a field that could give me money. Don’t get me wrong, I like money and certainly need it, but with today’s job market, who is to say that I would even get a job with an MA?
My fear is that I’m going to be deeper in student debt (currently staying on top of monthly payments since they started this month), without a job. I feel that it would make way more sense to have a few years of experience in whatever field you want your MA in and THEN get the MA. I don’t really see how getting an MA without any experience is going to help me get a job? Unless if I take an internship while I am getting my MA, but most internships aren’t paid (or pay very well) and I still need to make enough money to help me pay off my loans and be able to save up for other expenses.
If somebody knows of a field where I can get an MA and then get a job directly after graduating with no prior experience, let me know! Or entry level jobs that pay somewhat decently that would please my mother.
