It seems so. My next-to-last project, nearly done, is what the instructor calls a compte-rendu of the long and predictable film. My last assignment, just begun, is a PowerPoint about why it took such a long time for Alfred Dreyfus to be exonerated. Because they’re both French-class assignments, I conflate Amélie and Dreyfus in my mind. Can you must imagine what would have happened to Dreyfus if he’d been caught breaking into the grocer’s house, changing the clock, and switching the door handles? He’d be back to Devil’s Island on the next boat!
My hope is to have the discipline not to include that last thought in my compte-rendu.
