5) Kyra

Kyra is the second worst person in the work group, a very close second behind Gurney.  She is the type of person who has to be the center of attention at all times.  She is vocal, way too vocal most of the time, and I suppose by "vocal", I mean that she's much louder than she or any other person ought to ever be.  Usually, her volume makes her the center of attention and she is the type of person who believes that if she is the loudest person in the room, not only will she be heard, but in her mind, she's also correct with whatever she is saying.  Kyra thinks everything is funny and she laughs after damn near every sentence she utters.  If there was ever a person to laugh at their own jokes, it would be her and I will be the first person to tell you that she is not funny, not in the slightest.

She came into the work group way too hot, so to speak, thinking that she was suddenly a crucial part of the group even though she hadn't been in the work group for more than a week.  New people are never that important or vital to the job being done, especially when everyone else in the work group has at least a few months experience doing the job.  Still, in her mind, the place would damn near fall apart without her.  I don't mind people who are confident, but there's a very thin line between being confident and being needlessly arrogant.  As it stands, she constantly overestimates her abilities.  Constructive criticism aimed at her is always viewed as being hateful and wholly unnecessary because she knows it all.  I wish I was exaggerating, but she truly does think that she could run the entire department by herself, blindfolded, and with both arms severed.

Kyra is the kind of person who believes that she knows how to do the job better than all of us, including the ones who have been doing the job for well over a decade, by virtue of her having been trained within the last three years.  She calls herself part of the "new school", which apparently is the latest wave of people to have joined the department.  So, anyone who joined the department in 2023 or later, they are part of this "new school" class.  Anyone who was trained before 2023 is part of the "old school" and otherwise doesn't know what the hell they're doing.  I have no idea why this mentality is even a thing.  "New school" or "old school", it does not matter.  We all know what the job entails.  The difference is that some people, including Kyra, aren't as good as it as they would have you believe.  She doesn't write particularly well.  She's judgmental.  She's not observant or insightful.  Frankly, she's unpleasant and annoying as hell to be around.

Kyra is convinced that absolutely everything in our work group, and the office as a whole (and probably life in general while we're at it), has to be equal and even across the board.  Everyone has to have the exact amount of work to do and if there's ever a time when she happens to have more work than anyone in the office, something unfair has occurred and she will bring this matter almost immediately to management's attention.  Apparently, Kyra suffers from has been labeled as "youngest child syndrome", which is not necessarily a scientific term, but it is a thing.  I would encourage anyone to research it and not just take my word for it.  At least, that's been the speculation and unofficial diagnosis for Kyra amongst various people around the office.

Had it not been for Kyra's current work schedule, which has her physically in the office three times per week, Monday through Friday, I'd be a lot more miserable than I already am.  Her mere presence is annoying, because she can't just come in, sit down, and get to work.  Instead, she almost has to make her presence known, usually by walking into the office every morning while in the midst of a phone call.  For all I know, there is no one on the other end of that phone, but with as loud as she talks on that phone, there probably is.  Then once she ends that presumed phone call, she will spend the next hour or two milling around the office.  She'll call it "consulting", but really, she's just socializing and otherwise avoiding work.  Because of how loud she is, her brand of "consulting" is loud, obnoxious, and so intrusive that it interrupts everyone in her vicinity.

Not surprisingly and because of her lousy work ethic, Kyra is almost always behind with getting her work done, much like Gurney usually is as well.  They both share the same faulty brain.  She refuses to do overtime, even though it would likely be approved because of how behind she is, and she often tries to take some kind of jab towards me and anyone else who does even a little but of overtime.

I'm old school though.  This means I have a decent work ethic and I'm willing to put in the extra time to get my work done.  My work is considerably better than hers and it's not even close.  Apparently the old school mentality differs greatly from the new school way of doing things and is nowhere near as good when compared to how the newer and less-experienced workers do the job.

I don't know how many different ways I can say it, but I'll say it quite simply.

Kyra is trash.
