The problem with some people is that they have high expectations. If you keep your expectations low, you’re easily satisfied. If your standards are high, normal people and normal services cannot meet them. Karen, for example. Karen has a view of the world that is too high. She is living in a world that will not measure up. I don’t want to go through life unsatisfied. That’s why I keep my expectations low.
I don’t do it consciously. I’m just a simple guy with simple needs. Three hots and a cot. A warm night, a jug of wine and a loaf of bread. I sit outside and look at the stars. I don’t need a ski boat. I’ll happily sit on the shore and listen to the loons.
Happiness = wants/needs.
Happiness is the fulfillment of needs, not the satisfaction of wants.
