This week I have learnt that there is a tremendous network of kind hearted strangers that rally around someone during their sunset period.
Everyday someone phones or visits to check all is okay. They put recommendations forward that are actioned within 24hrs. They listen.. they really listen. I have been blown away by the network of kindness and efficiency that comes with palliative care.
The last 9 days have felt like they went on for about 3 months.. a contented exhaustion. As a family, we've kept each other laughing and really rallied together during an intense first week as we got everything in place. I think we are doing each other proud.
