Playing catchup! I was at the Carolina game alllll day yesterday. And literally Nick and I passed out when we got home, we were so exhausted!
If you had to relive one day of your life over and over and could choose which day, which day would you choose?
Tough question. One day to relive. Maybe the day that Nick and I got married...that was so great. That morning we woke up, I had to go run some errands and asked Nick to come with me and he said no, that he had some errands to also run and he'd meet me back at home. I was like 'Okaaayyy?'. LOL, really he was going to the fancy hotel that he booked for us to sneak a change of clothes, snacks, and champagne over there! We drove over to the courthouse in our wedding clothes in Nick's little Honda. It was about 800 degrees outside and the windows were down since he didn't have air conditioning! People stared at us too :)
We got married by a pretty little pond on a gazebo by the judge, and it was so fast and so slow. Nick drove around Augusta for like, 20 minutes before he got us to the hotel. I still had no idea, I was just like 'Let's go home, change, and go get some supper and watch a movie'. We went to the restaurant at the hotel, got complimentary champagne too! After dinner he said 'I want to show you the balcony upstairs, my dad said it is awesome because you can see all of downtown!'. And so upstairs we went...through our room! We drank more champagne and sat on the balcony in some rocking chairs and just talked about how we hoped our lives were going to be. It was so great. And guess what? I wouldn't change it for the world, we've always done everything on our own. Without much help, if any at all, from anyone. This was the same. We got married, just the two of us, and celebrated our MARRIAGE. Not with a huge party and fanciness and 100 guests that we couldn't afford. Just us. Quiet. Enjoying our own company. We talk about having a party maybe on our 10th anniversary since we didn't have a 'wedding' per se. Maybe, maybe not. That's still 7 years down the road. We'll have been together for TWENTY years by then. Wow. When we got married we were so broke. Like, applying for food stamps kind of broke. I think it was the absolute poorest we've ever been. In fact, we are still paying credit card bills from then (we had to pay bills with the credit cards, not frivolous things - our utilities and groceries!). Some people might think that it wasn't a good idea to get married when we were so broke, but you know what? It was the complete highlight of that year. Better than graduating college. Better than anything. It was a bright spot in a dark time for us.
What are usually your first thoughts as you wake up in the morning?
Easy. "Is it really 5am already? UGH".
