The cops are parked at the end of the street. They are watching the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. William Street. T intersection. That stop sign gets run all the time. Early morning. Middle of summer. Some poor sap is going to get a ticket. Failing to stop.

Yep. Here’s Bob. Going to work. He has a job in an office. Bob has a wife and family. He likes his job ok. He’s going in early so he can leave early. He’s going in early to get a bunch of work done before the office gets too busy. He’s rushing to work. Thinking about work. 7am. Wednesday morning. Heart of the summer.

He runs the stop sign. Sees the cop car parked in the shade just up on Dunbar. Its lights come on. He’s going to get a ticket.

Bob has a problem with authority. Why am I getting a ticket when there is a homeless camp just up the street? Where were you the night my truck got broken into? Where were you when I was accosted by the bum who sits on the sidewalk in front of Starbucks? This is not right.

Bob, later that day gets into a fight with his boss. He knows when the deadline is. He came in early for christ sakes, he says. At home that evening, Bob has a few drinks. He turns on the internet and gets radicalized. Let’s try to make Bob whole again.
