YouTube launched on February 14, 2005. Google purchased it on November 13, 2006. I became a YouTuber somewhere in between those two dates. Twenty years ago. A long time to be using iMovie.
I have to buy some new software. Final Cut Pro. $400. I really don’t want to spend this money but I probably should have two years ago, as soon as I actually started making money on Youtube. I’ve made about $1,800 from the channel, more than I’ve spend to camera gear. It’s good when a hobby will pay for itself.
I need the new editing software because YouTube made some changes and will be making some more regarding translations and captions (subtitles) and now I have to burn them in instead of overlaying them. This is for my Taiwanese viewers who make up the bulk of my audience. They pay the bills.
It’s justified. I am not looking forward to learning a new software, but it is for the greater good.
